it is not the main issue;
the issue is that kids will seize upon any perceived difference to make fun of another kid...whether that difference be sexuality, weight, height, color, intelligence, disability...whatever;
i knew yutes who were berated when i was a yute because they were effeminate...knew a yute they used to call 'gay ray' because he was effeminate acting;
i'm proud to say he grew into a good man and i'm glad he didn't kill himself; some trying to make this an issue about homophobia &amp; how black yutes call this or that acting gay or whatever;
i don't buy it....;the yutes are no more or no less 'homophobic' now than they were in my yute days...
in fact society far more tolerant of it now- gay marriage &amp; everything

I completely agree with you on this jah_yout. I think though that them have some people (defintely not directed at MGee) who like to act like them tolerant more than everyone else by jumping up and faking extreme concern or extreme support for gay people. Them think it is in style.

Them would never show the same concern for a black boy who get strung up by a white mob or a black woman gang raped by a white fraternity hooligans. Nooooooo! That would not be a &quot;problem&quot;. But let it be a gay situation and them all over it. Please, you can drive a Greyhound bus through them fake hole.

Maybe in your world it does but in mine it does not. She KNOWINGLY put herself in the position to be raped so no I feel very little sympathy for her regardless of her colour.

ok how can i explain this...kids bully other kids over everything, race included;
like i said i was jumped by a couple of white boys when i first came to america and some white kid called me ni66er...i told him what he could do to his mother so they decided to jump me;
was racism the issue? sure- i was a black yute in a mostly white school; i'm not denying that the obvious issue is racism...but the main underlying reason is that many kids are just that way;
they are going to pick on other kids who they percieve as being DIFFERENT FROM THEM whether that difference involves race, weight, sexualaity, color, religion, clothes, affluence or lack thereof, etc.

my point is that everyone starts attacking 'homophobic black youth and their homophobic parents'
but i don't see homophobia as the MAIN issue here;

like the debonair doc said it's survival of the fittest;
if every kid that has been teased were to have killed themselves over it, the population would be a lot smaller than it is now
