This was the exact thought I had. How much of her history will she know? See while to offer a child opportunity through adoption is nice what will she be taught about where she is coming from?

I can see what you mean about the history because personally, I believe it's good for a child to know their history/culture, but what I have realized from an early age is that it always depends on the child.

I know Jamaicans/Jamericans who have parents who try/have tried to teach them about Jamaica/the West Indies, but <span style="color: #660000">dem nuh cya</span> ! Conversely, I know those who really make the effort to learn about where they come from.

It is the way the title of the article is stated. had the child been in California I am sure it would have been titled differently along the lines, 'Madonna receives approval from court to adopt Mercy'
