The country's politics is not static. We are niot lomiting our opinions on ththe static poklitics. It is all about preparing for all contingencies. We still have to protect the good of the cpuntry even if thse who are incrahge is not intreated in doing so.

Jamaica is currently firmly under the US sphere of influence. Even Cuba gives America nothing to worry about these days. Chavez might be a problem and I think America is working on that right now.

This argument about USA invading Grenada keeps being repeated as if it was the USA in concert with only the USA. There were other Governments and the people of Grenada that were unhappy with the violent overthrow of their <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'">popularly elected Leftist Prime Minister</span>.

no one can see any need right now for invasion- but things don't stay the same forever;

to me it seems very dangerous that jamaicans are willing to gamble on their island homeland simply on the grounds that they have a belief that no one will ever invade-
even in light of examples i have shown where other caribbean nations have been invaded in the near as well as distant past;

i'm not gonna be so quick to think the u.s. or anyone else with the capability will never invade...so far the invasions have been of the economic kind...no military was needed, just come in &amp; buy it up...
but is a military invasion of jamaica really such a far-fetched idea?

i could never have proposed becoming a colony of anyone as i am defending j-a's right to have a standing army...i am reminding anyone who thinks that jamaica could never be invaded that invasions have happened in the region &amp; can still happen...
in other words i'm alarmed at the attitude of jamaicans who don't think a time may come when we may haffi defend dat-

lol! anyone who thinks that the Jamaica Defence Force ,wheter its located pon South Camp RD, Vernamfield, Caymanas Estates, Cockpit Country, Bobohill, Negril, Port Morant, helshire, portmore, Beverley Hills, Uppa Pipers' lounge, Hot Tracks, Skateland.. whereever it deh.. If anybady think JDF geographic location inna todays day could thwarth a US invasion (for what ever reason.. wi oil, the big bamboo, wi gold, diamons, Usain Bolt.. D' Angel.. what ever the reason, the USof A decided to invade Jamaica) , is smoking something that they should share.

The most sensical agrument put forward so far is its location serving as a buffer between east/west/nort and south..
Even then, its still not been a great buffer anyhow.

The JDF is more used to assist in natural disasters than for social purposes. If we tihing bout geographic location for fast access to where it would be most effective.. then whey flood like Clarendon?
Geographic location out in Caymanas, would also (THEORETICALLY) provide faster access to notorious disaster spots like Bog Walk Gorge for example.
Now a dont know if anyone here has sufficient knowledge of JDF and its operations to speak from a point of knowledge.. we all just assuming here and chatting wi fawt based off wi limited knowlegde.
BUT one thing we ALL know, KD Knight and the PNP have proven without any doubt that they do NOT know whats best for Jamaica. So if I was a betting man, and KD Knight says its BAD, I'd bet that its GOOD. If KD sey Jump, you duck.. infact, get flat. If him sey walk .. u betta run like thief.. infact, mi woulda run a zigzag like smaddy a shoot hafta mi..

yes but you are assuming that america is the only country that w/could possibly invade...you are also assuming that 20 years from now the global geo-political landscape will be exactly as it is right now;
our neighbors cuba &amp; hispanola have been invaded...why do we think it's so impossible for us?

In the past, on this very forum, I've argued that every role the JDF currently serves could be assumed by other branches of law enforcement and certain statutory bodies. But the 'nostalgists' for lack of a better word, and the so-called realists offered up rationales which mainly went along the lines of keeping some secondary line of defense. I'm sure if Bahamas attacked up, we would kick their butts, not to mention those Bajans.

Until such time that the JDF as a body is dissolved, I'm for relocating it.
