WOMAN BEATEN AFTER NAPKIN REQUEST?
A woman who asked her common law husband to purchase some sanitary napkins for her found herself on the wrong side of his wrath as the man unleashed a beating on her after her request, the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court heard.
Initial reports are that the couple had a dispute at home that day and it later turned into a fight. However, when both appeared in the court last Friday, the woman told the court that her spouse, Kevin Betton, slapped her across the face and gave her a fine beating, damaging her watch, after she asked him to buy her some sanitary napkin.
The accused was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
While he was not given the chance to tell his side of the story, the accused man denied the allegations that his baby's mother had brought against him in court.
Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser ordered that a social enquiry report be done in the matter before the accused return to court on August 13.
