If this discussion was taking place in the 1960's I could understand about Jamaican men not doing certain things only a few would be caught buying 'safex' during 'ole time days'. It is now 2009 not 1960. During those days even young girls were afraid to go to the shop and ask for a pack of 'safex' because the guys in the shop would all know that you were having your period and would count the days and know when to come and 'beg you some'. You would hang around and wait for the last person to leave the shop before you ask for the safex. Supermarkets came after where you could safely pick up what you wanted. Anyway,times have changed and the same &quot;so called men&quot; who would not buy tampoons for their wives and/or daughters in 2009 are the same ones who are now having their desserts under the table. Fifty years ago I would put my head on a block and swear up and dung boardline that no Jamaican men would ever do that.

a lot more than that has changed in 20 years much less 50 years...i agree with blakkgiant in the sense that i would buy maxi-pads for any woman in my life if the situation called for it...but not just casually like a regular thing; if she is not disabled or incapacitated in any way i expect her to buy her pads herself...
but does it make me a caveman because the women in my life simply never ask me to go maxi-pad shopping for them?
