It is obvious ans well known to all in the industry, but any policy change that lead to increase pay of workers will always be subverted by the lobbyists of the industry involved. When i was a youth, pilots use to have logs like truckers do.

And you have to present your log and flight recorded in it.

The problem is that they can find other jobs to make up for the shortfall in their pay.
So there is no way to guarantee that they are rested before a flight.
They only solution is to pay people living wage so that they don;t have to have 2 and 3 jobs to pay off their student loans before they can make a living.

That would be expected of him.
Once you hire a lawyer, and they have, the first thing they tell you is to admit no wrong.

If you do he will not represent you.

Nothing unusual.... it is not evidence that they were not asleep.
That info may come from the cabin staff, who were probably asleep themselves.

i think its a case of a different kind of error

anybody recall when the air jamaica 320 did bypass the airport in kingston and get close to the mountains?

I think they were kidnapped by an alien plane,a force placed around their plane space and everyone memory was wiped clean, so said pilots cannot remember anything...said force made them dissappear from the radar screen.

As for making excuses for these BUMS? There is no excuse. They made a choice and it was a bad choice, whichever the explanation. There is only one acceptable behavior when you are solely responsible for hundreds of lives and that is to remain IN CONTROL. If you can't, get out of that business.

The strange thing is that the majority of American workers would like to get out of not just the business their are in, but would give up even their beloved sorroundings to achieve it too.

i thought the issue was that the voice recorder only records the last 30 minutes of flight time so it would not have been of any use in this case.

Yes as a matter of fact...I do have a suggestion for them! Plenty pilots mangae to remain in contact with their radios and manage to find the airport they are flying to.
