Well if this type of thing go on so much then maybe a movie portraying the total breakdown of the father daughter relationship is a timely one. The fact that the movie depicts the family as black could be viewed as racially motivated perhaps but then again it may open a window for some in middle class white America to see a society that for the most part they choose to ignore and would rather not see.

You miss mi point. All I know is not all white films that have won or have been nominated have been all "pleasing to the senses"
. Some white folks a get nomination fi play prostitute (Julia Roberts) win fi play a retard (Dustin Hoffman) win fi play a cannibalistic serial killer (Anthony Hopkins ). They are not all glamorous jah_yout.
