I have nothing but respect for the author of this book .We finally have someone that, <span style="font-weight: bold">the real rulers</span> and <span style="font-weight: bold">roast breadfruits</span> cannot call a racist, for exposing the dirty secrets of that ill fated, former slave plantation island called Jamaica.Everything written in this snippet is the truth and nothing but the truth.This will make some people uncomfortable,since they were conditioned to pretend that these things don't exist in the land of one love and out of many one people.The main reason for posting this is to unsettle my fellow Jamaicans who put dem head ina san like ostrich bud.

ok i hear you...i guess you are saying people may put more weight into his words because he is european-descent;

which is true for many, but i and i know garvey, howell, j.a. rogers, malcolm x, wailers, etc. have been saying this for decades;
and it is not just jamaica...the same brainwashing from conquer occurred in african descendants everywhere...

i respect his more honest analysis while i still cringe at some of the generalizations &amp; condescending tone from the piece...without denying that he is right on point in the overall summary of it...

Sometimes it tek someone observing from the outside to make you realise a wah really gwaan inside.
Because if a Jamaican author write it, his sales would drop and people would malice him for it.
Since a Englishman, him get a bly.

Thompson remind me of Stewart Brown who come in with his poem &quot;Whales&quot; about tourists, and it cause a
huge controversy so much so the government have to issue disclaimer that the man who write it is
not a Jamaican.

It is a left over of our colonial experience, and is seem everywhere Europeans encounter other peoples that they colonized. From S.Korea to China*.
India is the birth place of colorism and still the home of discrimination based on skin color.
In the Arab world and those dominated by Arab culture there is colorism, but unlike the west it does not and never has blocked social mobility

Bredrin, India must be probably the most socially immobile country in the world.
They only social mobility you can hope for is in your next re-incarnation, and even then
