Saying that when the woman of color asked Dr. Laura for her advice was stupid implies that we should "<span style="font-weight: bold">pre-judge</span>" that Dr. Laura's response would not be helpful because she is a Caucasian female.

These comments in themselves betray another level of prejudice IMO

Di ooman has a HISTORY of intolerant rants.....look how many times she used the N word in her response, and even went ballistic on the ooman suggesting she doesn't haff a sense of humour...as if dealing with ugly racial topic is "funny.."..she should be the last person anyone seek advice from, period.<span style="color: #3333FF">

The big question is why would anyone with half a brain even listen to right wing radio and take it seriously?

The purpose of the media is to sell product. You sell more product if you have a large audience. You get a large audience by being sensationalist; by saying outrageous things that get people talking about you and your show and thereby getting more listeners. More listeners mean higher ratings. Higher ratings mean you get more money from sponsors who wish to advertise their products on shows that have a large audience.

Laura Shiitslinger, Rush Limbaugh, and all the rest of the right wing yahoos say what they say, ridiculous and erroneous as it may be to be controversial, to get bigger audiences, to make more money for them and the station they work for.

I'm sure that they are very grateful to the foolish people who listen to them and to the stupid people who take what they say seriously.

The foolish and stupid who do so are paying their big salaries and making their nonsense possible.

To me its all about context and intent
What Laura did is abusive, and should be considered racism.
Compared to Mel Hers is more revolting as she was in a public place and dealing with the public. <span style="font-weight: bold">Dr Laura tried to embarrass the caller by using the "N" word</span> which she knew the caller found offensive.

After having lived in majority white countries all the years of my life (but one)<span style="font-size: 14pt"> I would never ever ask a white person for advice on racial matters</span> (since we're using large font size now to shout instead of all caps). The exception might be Tim Wise or someone of similar ilk. And you best believe that if I were to seek advice from a black person, I would choose very carefully. Not everyone has good sense.
