So my other co-worker did have a talk with me in private. He was pretty much in awe as to what went down.

This guy just joined our group after a rotation he did. He is from another department. Wasn't impressed with him because he is not the brightest bulb in the room. I figure he is just here on rotation and then he would move on. Next thing I know he becomes permanent staff. He told other people he liked our group and asked to stay.

My co-worker informed me during our one on one talk that he was PUSHED out of his previous department. I guess that is how they operate around here.. Look like to ROTATE someone is nice way to FIRE them. Obviously dem had issues wid im soh dem shove im aff to smaddy else fi deal wid.

Well im betta doan try dat mess wid mi again. I am still peed!

Be careful how you handle your surprise at his disrespect. Remember although disrespect is hurtful, it is not tanglible enough to be effectively measured and many will see you as being overly sensitive for that &quot;type of work environment&quot;.

You may find yourself having to defend your position on this matter and other unrelated issues.

In other words, they could turn it around on you.

Don't rely too heavily on your &quot;witnesses&quot; because they could play deaf, depending on how they feel about you, their relationship with the &quot;jerk&quot; and their own insecurities (fear of getting involved).

In such cases, I usually have a quiet word with the culprit (without witnesses) and let him/her be warned that strong action will be taken if the act is repeated and nine times out of 10, it is buried.

Corporate folks can be deadly and what seem crazy might just be a set up.

To make something clear, I am not seeking the defense of others. Just want to put things out there so the powers that be know what is going on. From this point forward he will understand unequivocally what I EXPECT from his as a co-worker. At bare minimum that will be respect.

HO yu dont get it.. u is task focus.. yu get yu truck to a destination.. that is yu reasion detra, dem is process focused...If you fail to do so there are consequences.. It a process...

If yu screw up yu explode in a ball of flame in the tens of thousand degrees.. the most that can happen is dem feelings get hurt....or worst write a document that will be handed to you that is goblygook double speak and ununderstandable... But becomes law and when yu haffi change it it becomes a complication.. Ah bet yu have a 6 page procedure to filling the tank coupled with a colour coded chart, a safety checklist.. Ah bet yu, yu could do it with half the complication in a safer manner.. And I bet there is a step in all of that that dont mek a lick of sense ?????



But mi love dem still companies hire me because of my attitude.. That the task done safely and cheaply.. I like you create value.. processes though nessesary create bureaucracy... Think of your company: It support, Human Resources, Finance, contracts, all are struck with convoluted processes, double checks.. You are tasked with some thing simple get the cargo delivered....

Ever notice what happens if there is a mishap ???? How the processes becomes convoluted and the system is set up to deflect from the process to blame teh victim ?????Bet if you have a puncture dem ask yu when last yu check the tire pressure, wash deh windsheild..listen tuh yu radio, was both hans on the steering wheel, were you wearing the correct apparel, was teh tank fulla a deisel.. any thing to deflect ftom the punture..is your children picture in the cabin.. anything to make it operator error!

So when yu let aff a few F, S and C's...

You are tasked with meeting a ded line safely, they are tasked with defining the task, they are supposed to support the task but too many beleive the process superceeds the task.. (IT, Safety, ect)... In essesce they are supposed to make your job safer but it ends up so convoluted...

You then communicate in short simple words, the processors become so complicated they use words like synergy, proactive, the procedures become a prayer ect....They exist to cover arse you exist to complete teh task....

Long may they live.. as they complicate life... I get payed to cut the gordian knot that they create! While doing it I let off a few C, F,S..

(Note it is brilliant being a Jamaican I can let off some Jamaican bad wud and dem think its charming!)

Mi ah go tell yuh di truth. Wen mi travel goh ah Canada fi mi jab, ah regular ting dat dem duh tuh eachother there. Wan day mi goh dung pan di line wid mi supplier ah discuss ah resolution tuh an assembly worker issue mi want him fi solve, not ah serious one. Next ting wi know, wan ah di line wukas run up from bout 50 feet away whe him ah duh him wuk, an ah wave him han wid ah drill inna mi supplier face. Dem know betta dan try dat crap wid mi! &quot;Who tell unnu sey, unnu can use mi blankity blank table?&quot; Di supplier had a part resting on one corner of the assembly plant owned tables, explaining his solution tuh mi, and which was not being used at the time. Di supplier sey lets go. Mi sey, no!

I then went back upstairs to tek care of more pressing work.

Yuh hav fi understand dat di union workers there hav ah lot more governmental, and union protection dan dem counter-parts hav inna di states, soh mi could did push di issue to upper management, but it was not worth mi time or energy, especially being inna another man's country. Kinda like wen yuh inna di deep South dealing wid some red-neck cop pan fi him turf. Sometimes yuh haffi pick yuh fights fi suppen worth while, especially since ah noh fi mi face him jump up inna, an mi suplier sey, jus figet bout it.

The strange thing is, I have been on the line many times, and did the same exact thing, on that same table, by myself, many times before, and had no problems. Of course, I do have a few more stripes on mi sleevs than my supplier does, who also travels there all the time, and they know him as well. \o/
