this thread is sad..
its emits that helpless feeling where I see people I have deep respect for exhibiting evidence that they have been "infected" by the "media virus"..
its like having family members you care for starting to act like all the other people who have been exposed to a alien virus..
The jury hear the case, they reviewed it.. they did not see the media spin..
They had to make a decision that they will have to live with.
The decision could mean commiting another human to death.
Who here, being on the jury would send another human being to death, while they have doubts about their innocense?
If we can do that, then why do we bawl when white juries have been commiting black men to long incarceration spells and death over the years?
It seems the OJ Simpson trial had more evidence against OJ, than this trial had against the mother. Yet many of us were happy and relieved to see OJ aquitted..
I know I was.. and I am sure I was happy because he was a black man.. In my mind, finally a black man got a break.. It wasn’t that I thought he was innocent.
Here this mother may have murdered her child.. she seems to be a liar and loose.. but for some reason her parents don’t sit well with me..
Could her father be apart of the murder?
I don’t know who is worse, a mother accused of murdering her child or the parents of the mother who seemed (for some strange reason) anxios to see their own daughter sentenced to death..
Is it that the parents may have had a greater role to play in the little girl’s death?
Maybe I’m the one who’s out of it, but its really scary to me , just how much it seems that we have all be whipped into becoming what looks like a blood thirsty mob, ready to “hang-em-high” in the name of “justice”..Comment

well technically speaking the prosecution could not "prove" the case that it was, specifically 'she' who did it. ok i get that. (grudgingly)
however - i think part of her sentence should be that she is prohibited from profiting in any way from this - no selling story, no book, no movie -- no NOTHING from which she could continue to gain attention (which seems like she wants more than anything else) - nor profit from this whole disgusting mess.
whether she did it or not, she is certainly a rotten mother and an inhumane moron, who
1- showed no basic human compassion or respect for the life of a human being - never mind that human being was HER OWN CHILE --
and
2- made all the wrong choices of action, (based upon her own selfishness - rather than based upon what was right) even if it 'was' an 'accident'
-- she was clearly too stupid (or sociopathic, selfish, narcissictic, or what-have-you) to even handle <span style="font-style: italic">that </span>correctly -- cause even if it <span style="font-style: italic">was</span> an accident, there is something seriously wrong with a one who throws a human being away like a piece of garbage, and <span style="font-style: italic">worse</span>, then purposfully lies and deflects responsibility by sending everyone on a wild goose chase down a path of lies and deception about her part in it --
i no care WHAT the proscuetion could not prove -- to me those are not reasonable actions of someone involved in an 'honest accident'.

true dat.. . of little importance is dat our view may have been influenced by the predominant cable and news media and not that from raw evidence present in the courtroom...

i could not understand black people cheering the OJ verdict...at the time it seemed surreal

She should profit.
It's her experience.
What if she had legal bills?

plexxed that may have some accuracy to it - but there IS no other information that would influence our views, since none of us was on that jury.
however - it is still FACTS that (she did not care enough to) report her missing child, that she contradicted herself & told lies to throw off the search for the truth, and that the child's body was found in a swamp with mouth duct-taped ... thrown away like a piece of garbage to be found a month after the fact -
an opinion based in part upon those facts, is not <span style="font-style: italic">"merely"</span> 'media influenced'

however meck mi ask you a Yes/No question.
if YOU was on a jury for a case where the defendant, if found guilty, would be sentenced to Death.
if the trail ends with more questions than answers, no one confirmed exactly how and why the crime was carried out.. would you find the defendant guilty?
Would you honestly and in good clear concience sentence that person to death?Comment

It was interesting to me that her mom lied for her about searching for chloroform on the computer.
