MJ donated more to charitable causes than anyone else, I think.
MJ lectured at Oxford University!!!
The powers-that-be seriously wanted to get that music catalogue from him. And when he bought the rights to Little Richard's music, MJ gave it back to him free of charge.
MJ's battles with the music industry were er, frightening. Then they tried to destroy him. His final tour was meant to be 10 concerts. The music company demanded he do 50, knowing full well he wasn't up to it (he's not a teenager!). Then they would have sued him for every last penny.
Farrakhan has, great, great relevance to black people. I suppose those who never listen to him probably assume he talks about Islam.

Gaddafi didn't do anything wrong.
It's not his or Farrakhan's fault that the US, Britain and France decided to gang up on Gaddafi and take his oil - similar to what they did to Iraq and Iran twice.
Perhaps you fell for the 'NATO sent to protect the Libyan people', nonsense.
"As far as I'm concerned the guy talks a lot of sense."
Derek,
Yes he does. My problem with him is his telling many truths from the position of being a leader of a nutcase religion that is itself an offshoot of a nutcase religion which is itself a ripoff off other nutcase religions.
All of which poison what he says.
I also have problems with his presentation. He has the unctuous manner of a snake oil salesman and the delivery of many of those shout and response "Christian" churches which just makes me want to shut him off.
READING what he says is a lot easier.
My main problem with Louis Farrakhan is that he calls Malik El Shabazz (MalcolmX) a traitor and otherwise denigrates a man I consider one of the great men of our time.
Malik saw way beyond the limits of Farrakhan.
Watch films of Malik and Farrakhan delivering their messages and there is just no comparison between the rational thoughtful delivery of Malik and the staged persona of Mr. Farrakhan.
"MJ was the man."
Really!
Well he had to be one of the weirdest men of our time and in his persona as Michael Jackson he was no role model for young black men. No one can convince me that he was not mentally ill
As for Gaddaffi.
Much the same. When he defied Reagan and the U.S. empire in the Gulf of Sidra and had his daughter killed by the U.S as a result, he stood way above gutless leaders like Edward Seaga who kissed the backside of Uncle Sam BUT his anti-Democratic, Islamic cult of personality just poisons his brave defiance of the United States.
While I cannot support him neither do I blame him for trying to defend his rule in the current civil war in which the US/Europeans are fighting against him.
There is no indication that any government that replaces his will be any better and you can look at Tunisia and Egypt for the pattern that will be followed if and when Gaddaffi is run out of Libya..
Jackson, Farrakhan, Gaddafi
Good men, bad men
Heroes to some, villains to others.
There are much better role models out there than any of these badly flawed individuals.

Derek,
I do not think there is anyone out there more acquainted with the reality that the medium is most often the message than I .
Because of my often less than polite way of addressing things with which I find moral fault, MY message is often ignored .
Well I have the fix for that.
I'm going to darken MY skin, flatten my nose and chin, take all sorts of drugs, comb my hair with buttered toast, join/found the all-white NOI ( Neighborhood of Islam) , learn how to smirk, and wear a variety of bizarre clothing while running some oil-rich country.
farrakhan indeed speaks many truths...despite the religious dogma;
MJ indeed did many things to help blacks-- despite the apparent self-hatred & choice to continue his lineage thru white children rather than black- which speaks volumes

jah_yout,
MJ was just being practical in having white kids. think of the savings in NOT having them undergoing multiple plastic surgeries so that they can look white.
Wouldn't it be ironic if they all underwent sex change operations in a few years?
You do realize that if they are light enough, they'll be sprawled out at the beach getting a nice tan as Michael turns over in his grave.
