Right you are Vegas,

Talking about the immorality and the deviltry of U.S foreign policy has no place in a house of worship.

It's like Jesus tossing the money lenders out of the temple when he should have helped them count their money.

It's just not a religious thing for Farrakhan to do, questioning higher authority even if it is an Earthly authority.

He needs to regain his slave mentality and bow down to all authority good and evil.

He should also change his name to Tom X.

IMHO Louis Farrakhan is SPOT ON, <span style="font-weight: bold">'nutcase religion'</span> and all.

He speaks a lot more sense and a lot more bravely than any other preacher I've heard of
since Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

If he wants to continue to preach political controversy in his place of worship, he has my full support. Anybody who disagrees with him doesn't have to listen to him.

I think it's great that Farrakhan for his political talks has a captive audience which is composed of people who otherwise would have no idea or interest in the evils of Obama and the American Empire.

I don't care about his religion, his hairstyle, his clothes, his smirk or his delivery.

All I care about is his MESSAGE. AND THAT, AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, IS EXCELLENT AND SHOULD BE CONSUMED BY EVERY BLACK PERSON ON THE PLANET.

His MESSAGE would STILL be RELEVANT if he were a transsexual dwarf who spoke while wearing a Nazi uniform and his brief on his head.

While I like what Mr. Farrakahn has to say politically, he is a pale shadow of the spokesperson brother Malik was and could have been had he not been assassinated. .

Were Farrakhan the threat that Malik was he'd be on the other side of the grass now,

The NOI is not a credible platform from which to preach anything since it is based on irrational premises. (read Hitchens' chapter on Islam in his book &quot;God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything&quot; to understand Islam's irrationality)

Farrakhan preaches religious fairy tales out of one side of his mouth and quite rational and true political facts out of the other

That conflict taints what Farrakhan has to say that is very true.

AND sorry but not being from the black church tradition, I find the delivery of the shout and holler preachers, the call and response services , the very practiced and staged presentations which Farrakhan uses very off putting.

I much prefer to be addressed to in a rational conversational manner.

When he goes off into churchspeak, I start squirming in my seat.

Conversely, were Noam Chomsky or Christopher Hitchens to speak at a NOI mosque or a Southern Baptist church service, he'd have them snoring in a very few minutes.

Excuuuuuuuuse me, Mr. Cakes, but a Mosque full of Muslims is FAR from being a 'captive audience'!! Muslims are free to come and go any time they choose during a 'khutbah' (sermon). The only time they can't move is during the congregational ritual prayers (jaman).

And once again, johnnycakes, if you aren't comfortable with the way Mr. Farrakhan preaches, and I can assure you that his congregation is, you are free to choose another black person to expound the good sense you believe in.
But you and I ARE in agreement re Malcolm X. He was so good he was a definite threat, no contest!

Sorry Ms Peaches , You are not excused.

If you mean to tell me that anyone in a mosque who came to pray and then found themselves subjected to a political speech by Mr. Farrakhan would get up and walk out, I have to respectfully disagree.
That action would be roundly condemned by the other 99% of the attendees.

Not that they would be forcibly kept in their seat but the societal pressure would weigh heavily against anyone getting up and walking out.

Mind you I'm all in favor of every imam, priest, minister, rabbi, shaman, wiccan getting up in front of their respective groups and speaking ONLY about U.S foreign policy immoralities rather than of the myths and legends of the Bible and the Koran.

IMO the priests, ministers etc spend far too much time getting into in the arcane details of their respective religions in their sermons and far too little time on preaching true morality: helping the poor, doing unto others... etc.

Farrakhan disrespects Malik which is the overriding factor in my overall dislike for him.

There are a great many people who say just as much and more about the immorality of U.S foreign policy and who do not have the luggage that Minister Farrakhan does.

That includes just about every writer at ZNET and TomDispatch .

cakes, the problem with a lot of religious figures nowadays is precisely this;
they don't get involved in the actual issues facing the community- they are content to preach about the supposed afterlife...
the Nation of Islam has always been 'political', especially el hajj malik el shabazz/ malcolm x...
serving the creator means addressing ALL aspects of life-- this life---
not dwelling on ancient historical events &amp; myths or what they imagine to be an afterlife or their concept of what 'god' wants or what is 'god's' true nature;

who said political issues should/can not be discussed in a spiritual setting?

by the way farrakhan is very good at delivering sermons;
something that is respected by africans/afra-descendants

If some people prefer to have preachers rant and rave, sweat and use pretentious methods of speaking rather than discuss spiritual and political matters in a serious intellectual manner then they can go to it.

I do not wish to be spoken to in this manner. It is denigrating. It is talking down.

Who ever determined that the concepts and principles of God should be discussed in such a ridiculous manner?

I'll bet Jesus didn't get up in a $1000.00 suit, shout, holler, sweat and speak in a strange way to his people when he walked the Earth.
