Jesus was a-political. But he was for God's law and he was concerned with the cleanness of God's worship. Why would he have to preach buna fiyah pon baggy man? It was well-known homosexuality was wrong and it was not a major concern in Isreal. Compare that with the letter that was written to the Romans, where homosexuality WAS a major concern. In fact it was one for the first things spoken about in the letter to the Roman congregation because the Romans were very openly bisexual and that influence was not to come upon the congregation. Probably even the case that some in the congregation were at one time homosexual or bisexual and that temptation was constantly around them.

Notice once again however that none of the early church leaders and jesus himself were involved in politics, nor did they intend to decide for the Roman pagans that homosexuality was wrong. But it was wrong for the Christians.

Jesus however did comment on a problem in Isreal, and that was divorcing one's wives and remarrying and adultery.

You can have more than one wife, if you are in a country that sanctions polygamy...but if you check online, few countries would allow you to marry your close blood relation (mom or sis) or your pet animal

To support a measure that would allow gays to marry each other is not to say that one thinks gay marriage is right, but rather we prefer to take the speck out of our own eyes than judge another human being who has as much right as us to love another adult in a way they both deem fit. </div></div>

I hate to tell you but that story about the adulterous woman is not found in all manuscripts hence it is not fully canonical. Even if it were, more than likely, Jesus could see in her heart that she was repentant. It was the job of the judges to see if someone was repentant and there were any extenuating circumstance involved, and more than likely he could see that that was not done.


Secondly, when Jesus said do-not-judge he was taking about trivial matters that are not covered by Biblical law. In the case, of sins the Bible talks about, it is not the human that judges, but the Bible law itself. The Church has a right to judge its own, aka its own members, but not those on the outside.

I think you mean if you take away all benefits that married people get (tax, insurance, social security, etc ) and make everyone declare who they want to be their beneficiaries you have just taken away the whole legal aspect of marriage -- and you know there is a large segment of the population who will not let that happen
