You know every time I think about re-locating to the USA, I realize that it's a scary place. First Trayvon Martin, then the shocking segregation on Long Island now this. I have a young man to consider and would not want him to put his life in danger every time he visits or heaven forbid if he decides to go to grad school there.
I have a cousin who lives in Florida and her son is the same age as mine. He is back in New York. Enough said.
You know I have been to the USA 3 times in the last 5 months. I have not found ONE White person who feels Trayvon Martin's shooting was unjustified. To a man (and woman) without exception, they all feel that Trayvon must have been menacing in some way and brought the shooting on himself. I have not found ONE Black person who feels Zimmermann was justified in shooting Trayvon. I'm surprised that White folks have been so forthcoming in their opinions when speaking with a Black person. Man they can let down their guard when they hear a foreign accent.
Seriously, onoo scary bad fit true.Last edited by Tropicana; 12-02-2012, 07:05 AM.

Yup!They sure did:
The Founding Fathers on Arms
"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
George Washington
First President of the United States
"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Paine
"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
Richard Henry Lee
American Statesman, 1788
"The great object is that every man be armed." and "Everyone who is able may have a gun."
Patrick Henry
American Patriot
"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"
Patrick Henry
American Patriot
"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States

Ya see, it's just not worth reporting about blacks killing other blacks, because it happens so frequently, it's not news, but it is news when a white kills a black, because it is easily sensationalized into a controversial subject.
And when I mention these facts I'm called racist, and some how thought not to like black people for simply posting facts. When a person is dead they are dead, regardless of whom is responsible, the end result is still the same... DEATH
Why is the truth ignored?..it's obvious it's the elephant in the room.

Rich, statistics are not an opinion, and a body count is something that is easily tracked. I know Canada does not experience the same crime and subsequent slaughter as US cities. Do the math and homicide rate in large US cities, it's astounding and ignored. The casualties are equivalent to a war zone...but let one wacko white person shoot a black person and all hell breaks loose, and it's the topic of discussion...and my point to Trop was this, if she and her son moved to the US, her son would be more likely killed by someone of his own age, race and peer group, than a WHITE PERSON. It's simple logic using stats, and not opinion.
