speculation is that he was carrying his bro ID because he might have been trying to purchase other guns in the days prior to the shooting (he was under the legal age 21), him end up not buying any ONLY because there is a waiting period and him was in a hurry I guess

The mother of Newtown school massacre gunman Adam Lanza was a survivalist who was stockpiling food because she thought the world economy was on the verge of collapse.

Nancy Lanza began hoarding food and water because she feared that the onging financial crisis was going to bring about the end of civilized society.

She reportedly became 'obsessed' with guns and taught Adam how to shoot, but on Friday in a grim twist he blasted her to death while she laid in her own bed.

Law enforcement sources told the Hartford Courant that she had not gotten up - and could have even been asleep - when her son killed her.

The disclosure raises the prospect that Adam could have had the same apocalyptic views as his mother, and that she could have even encouraged them in him.

The Mayan Apocalypse, which the ancient Mayan people thought would mark the end of the world, will supposedly take place on December 21, although it is not clear if Adam thought that was the case.

In an interview the killer's aunt said Nancy Lanza was 'self-reliant' and indicated she was a 'prepper', or a person who prepares for Doomsday by learning essential survival skills - like how to shoot a gun.

Wow. In view of this, it's really odd that the neighbours have all described her as perfectly normal. She sound like a real paranoid nut case to me.

Mr. Greene posted a response on his Facebook to condolences received:

“Thank you for all of your prayers and kind words of support. As we work through this nightmare, we’re reminded how much we’re loved and supported on this earth and by our Father in heaven. As much as she’s needed here and missed by her mother, brother and me, Ana beat us all to paradise. I love you sweetie girl.”

Tenor saxophonist Jimmy Greene, who until recently taught in the University of Manitoba’s jazz program, suffered an unimaginable loss today — his daughter was one of the 20 children killed in the Connecticut school shooting.
JazzTimes’ Jeff Tamarkin reports in thisstory that Greene’s six-year-old daughter, Ana, lost her life in the horrific attack. Greene’s son, Isaiah, was unharmed, Tamarkin reports.
This CBC story notes that Greene moved from Winnipeg to Newtown, Connecticut, in July, after teaching at the university for three years. Greene, who is 37, was born and raised in Connecticut. The story states that both of Greene’s children attended Sandy Hook Elementary School. A member of Greene’s family told CBC that Greene’s son was “fine” but would not speak of his daughter.
Peers of Greene, such as guitarist Peter Bernstein, pianist David Berkman and saxophonist Chad Eby, to name a few, expressed their outrage at what happened and their sympathy for Greene on Facebook last night.
Similarly, this tweet came from the young pianist Christian Sands:

My prayers and heart go out to my brother, Mr. Jimmy Greene. Your loss cannot be compared. I'm praying for you and your family @jimmygreene

Sands doubtlessly speaks for everyone in the jazz community wishing to support Greene and his family through this devastating tragedy.

i think for the first time in a long time i'm realizing that Christmas on all levels is about babies and children. Been listening to Cee-Lo's version of "Mary Did You Know" and been crying thinking of mommies who won't be kissing their babies' faces this Christmas.

How can you be Normal if you ave a know lunatic son and your training him with heavy weaponry? She is as much to blame. That crazy should never been near a water gun much less a real one. I would trust him with a bubble blower. Not to mention he have a condition that don't allow him to feel pain . Go figure.
