Seriously though, agree with many of the points you made. It is both amusing and intriguing (or is it entertaining?) to watch how some of the discussions turn. Especially if someone disagrees with a point. That venom reminds me of the spitting Cobra.

Why can't this board attract new members?

i don't think it's as deep as some people are making it out to be...everything shifts over time...i think the message board in general has seen its heyday---from the time of us (gulp) older folk...especially with the advent of new forums like your twitters & instagram, youtube, etc.
Plus many young people are just not like that in this time. they're mostly not going to get into long drawn out serious or thoughtful discussions about subjects not in the pop-media; at least in the american-western dominated culture of jamaica/ns & related ppls

Why I frequent di board? As posted in di quote...entertainment. I LOL every single time I come to the board. Laughter is good fi my health. Seen? Or you with a small stick scratching away madly on a surface of denial that shrouds your venomous intent to prove some relevance in a blood connection to Jamaica. Perhaps if your conscience ran as thickly through your veins as your last real connection to Jamaica then you might change your attitude. A chance of that? My memories of you go back donkey years on this board and none were ever so fond as to make you memorable in a good sense.

The question about posting people's private information has been answered. I had wanted your input on the protocol for involving individuals discussed in news stories in discussions. We have had 2 examples recently of vindictive board members alerting people involved in news stories or their relatives of discussions here strictly to spark a confrontation and stir up trouble.

Tropicana, I beleive our rules already cover users "stirring trouble" in many various area including trolling, stalking, posting info etc. We cannot create a rule asking people to stop inviting others to the discussion board.

I'm not talking about creating a rule preventing people from inviting others to the board but rather a specific protocol and process to set the parametres for inviting subjects of news stories, particularly once the discussion has taken place. This is being used as a way to cause trouble when someone is losing an argument or not in agreement with views expressed. Perhaps these invitations should be cleared through admins and, just like in the past, the discussions should be set up from the outset as a dialogue or opportunity to interview a guest.

Great point...reading and writing styles have changed in that generation...We do have new sign ups but people are not posting. Hopefully the suggestions and feedback here can help find some solutions.

yes jahyout dat have alot to do with it. I think i am one of if not the youngest poster on here and mi soon ketch 30. i cant imagine many ppl younger than me being bothered with this site. all dat reading and writing and spelling.

not when you can watch a youtube vid and leave a 2-3 line comment. etc etc. it is very rare i read an entire post that is longer than one or two paragraphs.

We are always open to interviewing people for articles to post on the site. Occasionally we use to invite guests we interview for articles for discussion on the forums. We interview them for an article first. Currently we don't have the people resources (background prep, coordinate login, time, moderate, generate questions etc) to facilitate that right now plus the participation was not good. A straight interview is better. Again we have guidelines/rules for how people should conduct themselves in discussions. We cannot police people inviting others to the board.
