dark shadows will always be to me the ultimate kingston thing. whenever i visited town in my childhood, my pembroke hall cousins were always going on about dark shadows. it was like a mysterious world closed to me caw we never had teevee at the house i grew up in country.
Dark Shadows was all my friends at high school in Kingston would talk about. Barnabas this and Barnabas that. I never got to watch the series because it came on too late plus I was spooked just hearing them talk about what happened .
This was the only nighttime tv series our parents allowed us to watch. Bwoy, the next day this was all we talked bout Dark Shadows and Barnabas Collins.
I'll check the movie cinema showing to see if it will be in my area this weekend.

The original Dark Shadows wasn't a comedy - at least, not so far as I can recall... I was just a little kid when it was being aired. I used to stay up with my mom, waiting for my dad to come home and that's how I got to watch. And I got to sleep with them after cause there was NO way that I was going to the next room to my bed
It used to scare the crap outta me. Thinking back, I remember the darkness of the castle, the strangeness of its inhabitants - especially the little girl (cyaa memba har name - but she affected me most cause she was my age) all kinda atmospheric creepiness - (memba de music??? lawd, mi used to stick to mi madda like cling wrap!), de chair whe a rock by it self, de piano whe a play by itself, de door whe a opn by itself, cobwebs!!!
I think Tim Burton's flick is a comical slant on the original. I think it would be difficult, if not downright impossible to achieve the scare factor that the original had, using what the original used. I don't know if it'll work and so far the critics are panning it. Still, I just gotta go. I just hope I don't regret it!
And Barnabas Collins!!!! Lawd! Yeah, I don't remember him being funny at all!!!! He was weird and creepy and badass! I recall my brothers and their friends, actually just about all males (cept for my dad I guess - although he prolly wanted to secretly :/) wanting to be Barnabas Collins... speaking of which, wasn't there a song called Barnabas Collins?
<span style="font-weight: bold">Warrior</span> Warning if you don't like kick boxing - stay away. The story line was simple but moving. Very well acted.
<span style="font-weight: bold">Goon</span> & 1/2 - again, another bloody movie, but funny.
<span style="font-weight: bold">The Dark Knight Rises</span> & 1/2... I slept through parts of it. David thought it was great. The first two was far better in my opinion.
