What they want to do is use this as a loophole in order to be able to sell books that can used on the Kindle... Once amazon relinquishes the control that it has.

Exactly Gen - or if dem gimmme supm else as a replacement.

As a matter of fact they have many free books up there or ones u can get for under 10c - yes u saw right - mi ah read wan now - ah nice thriller weh mi download fe free - so if dem waan tek back de Orwell - mi nuh really care... mi did read it back in de day.

MOst times I keep my wireless turned off unless I am downloading somehting becasue it drains the battery - so dem haffe ketch mi during wan ah dem qwikie downloads LOL.

But as yuh seh - de younger gen - know wats up. Mi jus ah try gwaan like mi hip to

At first I didnt want anything to do with the kindle. I am a curl up with a paperback kinda girl.
However, I was warming up to the idea. Not because it started to seem like a good idea, but because it is inevitable.
Thats the way the world is going so I have to suck it up and accept it.
So, yes, I was warming up to the idea, until I read this

Yes the Kindle (or devices like it will win out in the end) and put people like me out of work .

I enjoy the feel of paper as well but from and environmental and economic standpoint, the use of so much paper for us to use for such a short time and then place on a shelf or in the recycle container is not feasible in this new technological reality.

A tidal wave is upon us and whether we like it or not it will wash the printed books, newspapers and magazines right out of our hands, never to be seen again.

Which totally sucks for someone like me who likes to get high of the smell of ink on paper

I just cant get into these devices I like my paper.

bway I love books and if I win the lotto and buy a huge house, the first thing I would see to wouldn't be a walk in closet, but a study with tons of bookshelves

Jazz how long does it take for the pages (screen) to turn ?

I read pretty fast and after seeing the size of the screen I would probably be turning every 8 seconds

The pages turn as fast as u can turn a regular page if not faster.

Those holders are cute but I prefer the slide in sleeve cause I like the feel of the bare kindle in my hand when reading.

Yes u can do some limited surfing and they are still developing it. It also has a built in dictionary and access to Wiki online.

You can also upload PDF files to take with you on the road... u can upload mp3 files which can play in the background while u read...

one charge with wireless turned off lasts a really long time... up to 2 weeks and less with wireless turned on maybe 3-4 days.

DID I already say how much I love it... Next week I plan to be on a beach in Jamaica - choosing from my selection of over 60 books (it maxes out at around 1500) while morgan Heritage or Bob or Beres or Tarrus Riley keeps me company... and the best part is that all that is contained in a device no thicker than a pencil

I consider this thing one of the BEST things ever invented...

Don;t get me wrong - I have still love my books and whenever I really enjoy a book - I go out and buy it in hardcover for my collection - I have several large bookcases full and that won;t change - but for bedtime, travel and vacation reading - nothing beats the Kindle plus no matter where u are u have instant gratification with the instant download feature!!!

did I mention that I love it!!!
