but seems to have addressed some of the things I've read about other ereaders.

well neither version of the kindle (since it's proprietary) supports (at least mi nuh think dem change) PDF documents.

A lot of academia peeps and techies have dem "books etc" as PDF documents, dem textbooks etc cannot be read on the kindle, so some of them not interested in the kindle for those reasons.

If smaddy just want read regular books , the smaller kindle is fine.

If smaddy is a professor/teacher/have most of dem reading material for work/school (and that is dem main job) then they probably better off with an IPAD. If di person already have a MAC den dem should sattah wid di mac and nuh bother with IPAD (unless dem win di lotto den by all means buy one fi mi too )

Mi nuh really follow up di DX version so I don't know how it has changed in the last year but mi gwine ask smaddy weh have the DX , if it have any updated features,

Ok- you can use your PDF documents on the kindle but just the basics, people weh need fi mark up texts and manipulate complex PDF thingies
better off with ipad.

the existing kindles connect via 3G technology ( like yuh cell phone) yuh can deh pan di dude ranch and once yuh have cell phone reception, yuh can buy and download yuh books

this new WIFI version is cheaper for a reason, yuh can only connect to get your books via a WIFI connection, end of story period. This was introduced at a lower price for a different market.

Now di second one, di newer version of what mi have mi nuh know what new features it have cause mi not interested in any new one since mine still a work fine (this version is fi people weh need di latest and updated gadgets)

since di crumbsnatcha born mi tun into a multi-functional smaddy (to be read: cheap).
mi nu able fi have too much tings fi luggo-luggo wid again.
actually di current mr ilp seems to think an Ipad would better suit my needs. it has kindle app, plus it would hold itunes library, podcasts, email, etc.

mi still thinking about it. i do want something, as i do alot of reading (books, blogs, magazines, etc) and having them all on one device would be nice.

As fan as I am of Apple, the iPad is very heavy and the display will make it difficult to read in sunlight.

ETA: I'm looking at the Barnes &amp; Noble Nook; reviews say performance issues have been resolved, plus it can read any format (except Kindle) including library eBooks. There's a wifi model for $149 and a wifi+3G for $199.
