the graduation was nice.

the school did a very nice job organizing everyting.
babygirl A's honor chords that went with her cap and gown were &quot;lost&quot; with everyting that happened.
the school was able to get her replacements (at a fee of course).
it was nice to see har caught up in the excitement of the event...she was grinning fram ear to ear (well until di graduation did finish and all ah di pickney was in di hall hugging and bawling dung di place bout, &quot;OMG, I am gonna miss you guys so much. KIT, OK?&quot.
babygirl A muddah was there. mi peeps har when dem call babygirl A name...she stood up to snap a pictra. she was on the other side of the arena.

afterwards, she came over and congratulated babygirl A...which did awkward bad. she gave har one balloon and some flowers. babygirl A gave her baby sister a big, big hug ahn was kissing har up (again, really sweet ) di muddah then said (to babygirl A), &quot;I will assume you've made plans for the evening.&quot; babygirl A tell har yes (even though it wasnt true). i left dem alone for a few minutes and mi nuh know what dem did chat about (babygirl A neva look like she wanted to share...so i didnt press it).

after mi see babygirl A muddah walk off...mi waited while babygirl A mek har rounds wid di rest of di oddah pickney daht did graduate. then we came home. babygirl A seh she neva want to go out to dinner, she just wanted to come back ahn sleep...which she did.

satidey (oonu pray fah good weather ) wi planning fi have backyard graduation party wid all ah babygirl A friend dem. she seem excited about daht. she sen out ecards and di rsvp's are coming in. how mi get ketch inna bashment wid teenagers mi will neva know i have no idea if she sen har muddah invite...mi neva ask. to be honest mi hope she didnt, but if she did mi will deal wid it.

so it continues...now mi working on menu &amp; activities fi teenager bashment. all mi have so far is watermelon, soda, chips, ahn di sheet cake. wah mi serving after daht...

ILP - glad things worked out for A and her graduation, and that u were there to make sure it happened. i'm still conflicted a little bit about the demonization of the mother, who seems to love her daughter even if she's an inadequate parent. who knows, maybe ur ability to materially provide for A over the years may have made the mother feel threatened and at a disadvantage in her relationship with her daughter, and may have played a part in the craziness in their relationship. i'm not saying u were to blame - i'm saying that people are funny and sometimes our best intentions can take on overtones we did not intend.

but that's me, speculating and armchair psychologizing from behind a computer screen, and without the personal knowledge of the principals in this story - which u have. i respect ur views and actions, and i do honestly believe that A is lucky to have u in her life.

MG, mi hear what you are saying. Yes, BBA muddah is an inadequate parent, but arent all parents inadequate in one way or another? Parents are human beings and humans are inadequate. I am sure that money/material items have become an issue for this woman, as when BBA first arrived on the scene...the money flowed from not just me, but others as well....ALL UNDER THE PREMISE OF IT BEING FOR BBA AND BBA's BENIFIT. When it became clear that the monies were not being used for BBA and that we were not helping the situation by continually giving this woman monies folks (except for me until about 2/3 years ago) cut this woman off. BBA's mother's youngest is just about 3 now and I made the choice to end our relationship after I told her I would not be god-mother to her youngest. Emotionally, I just didnt have it in me. &lt;---I posted that saga on here a few years ago.

Many times, this woman would tell BBA to call me and ask for things (which I have never minded &amp; have been happy to do). In areas of discipline, rearing, etc. I have always remained <span style="text-decoration: underline">hands off</span>, as BBA lived in her house and therefore should abide by her rules. BBA has never had an issue understanding exactly what I felt about that either. Whenever BBA and I wanted to spend time together or do an outing, vacation, etc., I ALWAYS made BBA get permission/blessing from her mother. When it came to school/grades, etc, her mother always defered to me for whatever reason. Again, I NEVER minded, although BBA mother could have done the work herself, as she is a very book smart person.

Now I realize that teenagers fight their parents. I know all about the &quot;special&quot; relationships that mothers and daughters have. I am a teacher and in the business we call it &quot;the dark period&quot;. It is sometimes a traumatizing thing for kids when they realize the shortcomings of their parents. It sometimes requires a lot of work (on our end at school) to get a kids to the point where they can see (and accept) their parents for exactly who they are. Sometimes it is successful and sometimes it isnt. I realize that some of this with BBA &amp; her mother is about that &quot;dark period&quot;, but ALOT OF IT ISNT.

Now I hear you on the demonization part. But my question to you is: <span style="font-weight: bold">Who has demonized her?</span> I would surmise that BBA's mother has demonized herself over the years and that is most of what she tried to throw at me during this last habaloo. I agree with you, people can be quite funny. I also accept that my best intentions over the years may have taken on overtones that I did not intend AT ALL. I will add, however, that BBA mother is the one with the issue. She let it be known that she has had the issue with me and has had it for a while. I accept that. Now the responsibility now is for HER TO DEAL WITH IT AND TO DEAL WITH IT AS AN ADULT.

Now if history is any indicator of how it will go...then we all know the answer.
