babygirlA's mother lacks the maturity to be an adult and/or to have children, the whole "game" reference makes it seem like she is back in HS with her little friends as opposed to this being real life, HER life.

The woman is a mental case, that is capable of physicallyharming that child, if not reported to the law,a and be appropriately restained.
She need to be evaluated and possibly supervised,or incarcerated, if necessary.
She is a danger to the child. Not to mention those who dare to assist her in the future. If she could do that to her child for seeking to help herself, what would she do if someone does wrong to her.
A prime example of a psychotic parent that has balmed the child in her life, for her failure to complete her personal goals.

with u on this tdude. the picture i'm getting from ilpy's story is of a woman who doesn't know how to have a mature relationship. i don't see anything that says she doesn't love babygirl (i think if she didn't care, she wouldn't have gone through the smashing of the things and putting of the things out on the sidewalk). i don't see anything in the story to show physical abuse.

mother and daughter relationships can be very complex. both babygirl a and her mother seem to be in the grip of some intense feelings of hurt and loss. i'm finding it hard to judge the mother, though i don't support what she did.

anyway, ilpy, in ur love and being there for babygirl, i beg u please be tender with the feelings she still has for her mother.

now daht mi have had a semi decent nights sleep ahn had 13.1 miles (during the MD Half Marathon) to process...mek i share some thoughts....

1. is almost 20 years that i'v know babygirl A mother (19 to be exact).
2. i met her while in college, she was on scholarship...quite talented. i met her very shortly after she got pregnant with babygirl A. i was a good friend (at the time) with babygirl A's father and babygirl A mother used to ask me to be the bridge between her and him. bad situation...needless to say he disappeared...who the hell knows where he is?
3. babygirl A's mother took a serious downslide after she got pregnant with babygirl A...i mean serious. from losing the scholarship, getting kicked out of school, being homeless for a little while, leaving babygirl A with friends from the college (myself included) while she &quot;got herself together&quot;.
4. i wont go there about her own family, as i have only met them twice in the time that i've know babygirl A mother.
5. she went through a period (if you can call 15 years a period) where she has gotten pregnant (numerous times), aborted (numerous times), borrowed &amp; stole money from friends, welfare system, her jobs (when she worked).
6. The men, STD's, court, baby daddy drama...too much to list here...

i could go on, but i will not...i think i've made my point.

my issue with this &quot;woman&quot; isnt that she has obvious issues. she is human and humans have issues. human beings have problems. what grieves me is that she tends to be wormhole like with her issues. she takes from &amp; sucks everyone in with her. what is beyond my comprehension sometimes is that she injures her children, the least in ability to defend themselves. i have no evidence that she has pysically abused babygirl A or the new daughter that she has (i've had no dealings with the new child...emotionally, i just could not do it and the new baby was the catalist in our &quot;friendship&quot; ending). everyone knows that pysical abuse isnt the only kind of abuse that is out there. personally, i dont want any kind of abuse, but if i <span style="text-decoration: underline">had</span> to deal with one...i'd rather get punched in my face...as that bruise would go away. <span style="font-weight: bold">MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL BRUISES RUNS MUCH, MUCH, DEEPER AND SOMETIMES NEVER HEAL.</span> To me, people who engage in this type of abuse are the lowest of the low.

now, i will not say that being a mother/parent is an easy job. i give much, much, much respect to those that do it. it is the hardest job in the world and I cant imagine having to do it alone. i will not pretend either that babygirl A is some kind of angel. yes, compared to what she could be, i will say that she is a damned good kid. compared to what i have seen...she is way better than most. but she is a normal kid and she has had her problems.

with all this being said...babygirl A mother is the adult and at some point she needs to begin acting like one. perhaps, her childhood has not been the best...i mean any idiot can surmise that...how else can you even begin to explain her unexplainable behavior? but at some point every human being has to make a choice...you either become a victim to your circumstance or you pick yourself up by the bootstraps and do better. BE BETTER. PERIOD. I am not saying that it will be easy and that mistakes wont be made, but you live and learn.

in the almost 20 years that i have known this woman, no learning has occured...no growth is happening and the mistakes justs get more grievious. AND WHEN KIDS ARE INVOLVED, THIS TO ME IS UNFORGIVABLE!

Now, babygirl A will have to deal with all of this in the long run. I have no doubt that the magnitude of it all (and I am not just talking the prom, money, throwing her stuff out on the street &amp; breaking her stuff) has even yet began to manifest itself. babygirl A is a smart kid...she is very, very perceptive (all traits she has inherited from her mother) and she has been aware of her mothers short comings &amp; mistakes for a while, but has choosen to try to love her mother through them. but she has probably gotten to the point were she has decided to say enough &amp; for anybody that can be difficult especially when feelings are involved. can you imagine that for a kid?

my role in all of this will be what it always has been...and that is to love babygirl A. love her and teach her as best i can...so that she will be a responsible, contributing, and well rounded loving human being.

i will end by saying this: i called babygirl A's mother this morning (yes, before i left to do my 1/2 marathon). she didnt answer, i left a message. i let her know that babygirl A's graduation is tomorrow at 4pm. i can not tell her what to do, but i let her know that we (babygirl A, di current mr. ilp, my sister, and i) better not drive away after the graduation is over and not have seen her there. i will not prepare myself for any contingencies (sp) as far as that is concerned, as i do not know what i would do.

after tomorrow, babygirl A and i will talk (when she is ready)...school starts for her in july (she signed up to begin her semester early...go figure). i plan to take it (with her) one step at a time.

ILP, I raised my nephew and had a hand in raising his siblings. Their parents were IV drug abusers. Mom would abuse whatever came her way and I've heard more horror stories about her behavior than I ever wanted to know.

They totally blamed theiir childhoods. Her's was miserable until the day she died. She's dead from a heroine overdose the night after her husband beat the crap out of her.

My brother on the other hand is only 13 months older than me.

My brother was a rotten kid, a miserable teen and a pitiful excuse for an adult. Still, all those kids want is their father and his love &amp; approval.
He is STILL a selfish sorry excuse for a parent. Resposibility is beyond his comprehension.

Sean is a daddy now and seems to be holding his own. Joe's doin his thing and has no bitterness. He sees his father for what he is and is over it.

Sarah just graduated high school yesterday after some very difficult teen years. Hopefully she won't follow in her parents footsteps either. Though luckily she doesn't remember the times with them, she suffered for years wondering why her mother didn't contact her.

8 years they did not hear from her except for an occassional phone call from jail when she sobered up. And then it was just to tell them how evil my family is for stealing her babies.

The mother's been dead 3 years now and it's like a weight off their shoulders to not have to worry about her anymore. Sad, but true.

I feel bad for anyone who had a miserable childhood. But childhood finish. Make it better for your own.

BGA is lucky to have a good influence in her life. To show her what it's like to be a hard working, loving and selfless person.
