aight..me using one of the preprogrammed routines...but me increase the speed

so me walk at 4.2 fe a while
an me also do the incline at 15..with the speed at 4.2..dat ish is a killer [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

I've been doing my 30 mins or 3 miles this past week without stopping [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] No backache either, which I am very glad about.

CB I've been keeping a log on that coolrunning website you mentioned as well as following the couch to 5k program [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

I'm going to stick to the 3 miles every other day with a 40 min Sunday run for the next two weeks, then I'll start to jazz it up a bit.

Also doing weights once a week so far but hope to make it twice this week: one session upper body and the other session lower body. With Pilates on Friday I have a feeling a Saturday morning lie-in will be in order [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

Still haven't managed to push my frighten Friday body onto the bike since Good Friday, but I'm working on it [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img]

MrsOchi I received my large order of supplements on Friday and amongst them is something called Joint Support. I reckon that with the fish oil should protect me a bit. Only recently has it dawned on me that at 44 this body can't do what it used to do without aches and pains and I need to take care if I want to keep active a while longer [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img] So annoying [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whatever.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

Well I finally got myself together on this wet, rainy, cold Sunday [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] and put down 6 miles. It was on the treadmill. Did I mention that treadmill running is [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-sleeping.gif[/img] but the good thing is that I was able to play with the buttons on the machine and examine my pace, so that was [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

Thank God for the IPOD...I know that I would not have finished if I didnt have some good [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/music.gif[/img]

Not going out again for a run until Tuesday. Mi gwine [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] fah better weather.

yup. the entire time.
sometimes my runs have intervals in them, sometimes they have speed work, sometimes hills. It depends on what the road/course looks like. Or what the trainer/schedule calls for.

Sunday runs are my easy runs (usually). I go out with di current mr ilp. the run is mostly flat and it takes us around this man made lake & past the golf course near my house. No racing, no trying to figure pace, blah, blah, blah. Just fresh air. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/discosmilie.gif[/img]

The treadmill isnt so bad, I guess. It just gets boring after a while [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-sleeping.gif[/img] But like I said, you can get some good info on pace, etc from it.

I decided that I like Chris Daughtry's album. I listened to the entire thing today while on the tready. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

St Louis marathon update...

Today I did my first half marathon, 13.1 miles. I am tired...feet/toes, shin and hip hurting. Completed my time in 2h/45. I entered the race in poor health. Woke up with a sore throat and body ache yesterday and it just got worse throughout the day. On top of that it's that time of the month and y'all know how the first two days are crappy. On top of all that my mother has been in the hospital close to 2 weeks after doing a massive heart surgery and she has not been doing too good post-surgery...they have to re-open her and operate again tomorrow. So you can imagine how frazzeled...tired...sick out of my mind with worry over my mother and literally sick to my stomach because of a flu like symptom and monthly.

Anyway, the marathon kick off was yesterday. It rained all day yesterday, I thought probably it would've been cancelled, but Saint Louisians were out in droves with their children despite the weather. Thank goodness the sun was out today. The air was a bit chilly but just right for a comfy run. My run started off good...I loaded up on 2 Aleve and zithrosomething for flu and hoped for the best. I think I did good and I'm glad it is over.

See you all on the running trail...

I must add that Saint Louis was kicking today...marathon, NRA convention, baseball...it was an exciting day in downtown today.

I hate my body (or should I say my body hates me) after a race, but your perspective will change after the swelling goes down. I would say, put you feet up, but I understand about not being able to especially with your (((mom))). Do what you can.

Trust me that this a truly an accomplishment & you will do another. Now you rest and then head back out there.
