it is always easier to think that sex tourism is being "undertaken" when the races are different

there are many black women that go to jamaica and partake in sex tourism

it's harder to discern since they appear to be the same race and closer in age

tropicana... honestly i think the best way to get an accurate answer is to ask those that are involved with it... and few will admit to that.... but i think if there was honesty in the answer.. there would be more clarity...

on the other hand isnt there a great distinction in sex tourism... and relationships that form.. interracial... esp in jamaica that are not based on sex tourism.. but just in finding relationships? i mean some seek what they cant find elsewhere.. they are drawn to someone for differeent reasons.. some complimentary to each other..... i think there are plenty of good solid relationships going on in some of these places.. and yet plenty of just partakers in sexpleasure... for sex.. not love on both sides....although id be fool to think that all men and women esp in jamaica are partaking in it for sex.. its for what they can get out of it.... phone cards.. meals... ticket out .... hair dos, nails....

i think there are a ton of lonely people... either not so attractive.. and or not involved in a consistent relationship.. where in they dont get regular sex.. and yes.. they want it...

i think there are many women that would go to ja and form relationships and yet might not be interested in men from india.. or asia.. different people are attracted to different races...

i know in general im more drawn to some than others.. but physicality is one thing.. mind heart soul. another

i also think there is some mystique to it for some.. drawn to island life. believe me in heat and sun and wiht a few rums.. romance is looking pretty good.. add it with the nice words... and some perks.. on one side and good sex on the other..... i know.. shouldnt say that.. but think that happens too..

i also think there are a lot of conscious women.. that like rasta men.. or what they think are rastas..esp newbies who dont know the difference...

i think there is that draw of white women that want black men.. and white men that want black women... by the way it goes the other way around... have had many a black man tell me they wan t a white woman too.... i think the answers are muli-layered.... but if i were drawn to black culture.. and possibly black men wouldnt i consider countries where i might find a union wiht one.. but is this sex tourism.. or just for a relationship....

its hard to answer when you just are on teh outside looking in.. i can only judge one by one.. and i get a feeling about what its about. sex tourism.. or a relationship based on respect...

You know, Nina, in all the time I've been a member here, you are the only white person I know of on the board who has denounced the phenomenon wholeheartedly and unequivocally. I remember our first encounter in the trip report where you used even stronger language than I did!

There may be others, but quite frankly I have never seen their posts...

It seems that way to me. Men i KNOW (AT HOME) ARE MUCH MORE INTERESTED IN SEX AND WOMEN IN RELATIONSHIPS...THAT'S JUsT A MALE/FEMALE THING AND IT MAKES SENSE THAT those working in THE SEX TRADE WOULD PICK UP ON THAT AND GIVE THE customer WHAT (S)HE WANTS.

I think it's more of a class issue than a race issue, and of course the two are one and the same in many cases.

I think it's a symptom of several bigger problems, not the cause. One can denounce prostitution all one wants but when people want sex or power and other people want money or power, it won't go away. The roots grow much deeper.

you know i have been quite up front about how i feel about it when i see it flaunted right in front of my face... even to the point of hurting people i care about...

there is no if ands or buts with me when it comes to this... it appalls me .... when one uses anothers inequities.. imbalance of power.. to get what they want from them.. even despite their willingness i find it reflective of themselves...

if i had the money.. the power.. just because someone was willing .. doesnt mean i would or could ever do that.. because i know inside they were being used by me.... and in the end i too was being used by them.... i also feel that it keeps people where they are.. to think they are not worth more .. if you have money.. goods.. help people to make a better life for themselves... to support things that can further them....

using is using. but the one in power that uses is the worst.... and to be in denial its happening is just being blinded..

but let me reiterate.. i do not think that everyone who is involved in a relationship is involved with sex tourism. not at all.. nor do i think because one has money and the other doesnt it have anything to do with that at all... you can find that everywhere...

i think its easy when you dont know who is who.. and you get an impression of how things are. .. to blanket the notion of who is doing what.....

sort of like what rundung said to me... when clearly i dont do this.. nor have ever been interested.. or ever looked for relationships this way......

again.. tons of reasons why some do.. tons of reasons why some suspect those who do who arnt... have to be careful... in judgement...
