Let's say they confirm that the 5th bomber was JA'can and in their investigation they find that a terrorist cell has been operating in JA for years. With this new info, the US and British gov. swarm JA trying to find these suspected terrorists. This would create a potentially violent situation in JA which may lead the gov. to impose a travel restriction on Americans.

When the media use the words Jamaica or Jamaican in the same sentence with the words snipper, bomber or murderer it does way more harm to Jamaican tourism than any government issued travel warning ever could.

That's true, and I'm concerned about JA's tourism industry. But I'm more concerned about JA'cans abroad who may have to return home soon in the wake of all these hurricanes we're having. If the US issues travel restrictions, will JA'cans in the US & Britain/non-tourists be able to go home to check on their families and their property?

I don't think the news that one of the bombers is possibly of Jamaican descent will change how Jamaicans (and descendents and fakers) are treated. It's the Muslim community who are currently under the spotlight whilst we (Jamaicans, etc) carry on with the black on black crime

Would be interesting to see what would have happened if one the bombers had been a white British Muslim convert. Seeing as whites are also converting to Islam is it just a matter of time before one of them takes the bombing route also?

Kneejerk reactions could be ID cards, review of deportation laws, visa price hike or banning of Jamaican males travelling to UK. Wonder if the Notting Hill street party will be cancelled or will some people stress the 'non-Jamaican' factor? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

There are already numerous travel restrictions on Jamaica, for years now..check the US site..I don't think this will hinder Jamaicans from going home for whatever reason[s]. So far Cuba is about the only country that we are ORDERED not to go, travel restrictions don't imply, necessarily that one cannot go there..go there bout take necessry precautions..

I however do concur that if "terror cells" are suspected of operating in Jamaica [which btw I doubt] it would be another ballgame.

The bombings in London carry serious repercussions, internationally and locally, the response in America is one example. It is likened to the events of 9/11, and what happened in Madrid. I can only say that the matter isn't taken lightly and they again, will "go to the ends of the earth" if it is even to show their citizens that they are doing something constructive to appease them. Bringing a few to "just-ice" would make them feel even more accomplished..

Look at the face ot that innocent woman who was one of teh victims, why should they go unpunished, unchecked? Why?

Napi and Englan Girl, you have both raised some very important and provoking points.

It will be interesting to see how this is played out if it is in fact a Jamaican. This could get very bad for Jamaican men in a society that isn't very kind as is. Yes the spotlights are currently shining on the muslims, however when people get scared they will do anything to decrease that fear and with the EU trying to bond as it were, Jamaica can rapidly be listed as a place not to be supported by the strong british pound. They have done it to other beautiful countries so they can and may very well do it to Jamaica, all in the sake of fear and solidarity.

LONDON (Reuters) - The fourth suspected suicide bomber behind attacks in London last week has been identified as a Jamaican-born Briton, Sky Television reported on Thursday citing a senior security source.

Sky named the suspect as Lindsey Germail and said he was in his 30s. He was linked to a house in Aylesbury, about 40 miles (65 km) northwest of London, searched by police on Wednesday evening, Sky said.

The BBC gave his name as Lindsey Germaine, as did the New York Times, citing American law enforcement officials.

This took a long time to appear in the UK.

Ordinary Iraqis must feel heartened by the fact that they blown up every day and no-one bats an eyelid yet "the world" holds a 2 minutes silence for those killed last week in London. What makes the UK so special?

The UK held a 2 min silence to grieve. If the world wants to join, so be it. One has nothing to do with the other. Personally, I needed something after standing on the platform on King's Cross and watching the train leave, then seeing the lights dim a minute after. JB UK also

In class last night, we discussed the theory that Britain's "loose" immigration policy led to this situation where terrorists could organize and operate w/o suspicion.

A girl in the class argued that we should be more cautious of who "we let in our country" and that we need to be on the lookout for people who "look like terrorists."

I asked her if she thought Timothy McVeigh looked like a terrorist. She argued that McVeigh wasn't a terrorist, he was just an individual who was crazy. HOW IGNORANT CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE!!!????

No one was profiling blonde haired-blue eyed men after the Oklahoma City bombings.

I'm worried that Muslims and now JA'cans will find themselves in an even more discriminatory situation when this patriotic, anti-terrorist, anti-Muslim, possibly anti-JA'can paranoia spreads through Britain.
