Re: women traveling in jamaica
Rizla, Thank you so much for starting this informative and interesting thread. So many issues have been brought to light and the thread never deteriorated into something negative. This is good!
I'd like to share something.. My second trip to Jamaica(nearly 10 years ago) was to Negril with a girlfriend following the terrible breakup of her marriage here(whole 'nother big story for Dear K!). We seriously did not know the runnings. She had a great time and her self-esteem was boosted greatly at a time when she really needed it. I spent the first 10 minutes feeling I was the most beautiful woman on the planet...followed by a week of fighting off potential suitors like they were rabid wolves. (I must admit though, it is nice to hear how wonderful, beautiful, sexy..you are, even if the motives may not be entirely sound). Anyway, the whole situation unnerved me enough that to this day I've only been back to Negril on day trips. I headed to other parts where I've been able to sit and chill and hear an occasional "you ok?" to which I reply with a smile and a nod, knowing that if trouble arrives, I'll be well looked after by good folks. Part of this comes from knowing people in the areas I frequent and also from being able to handle various situations more effectively(humor always works well! ) Anyway, my point is that this thread gives valuable information to women who may be in need of some ways to head off trouble and hold their own. I wish I knew then what I know now!
Stargirl, It's good to read you found a nice country boy. Around Ochi's nice, isn't it?
George, Thank you for your input...I'm speechless, but informed!
Marilyn, I appreciate your honesty and candidness!
Rizla, Man, can I relate to your resentment about people's thoughts on why you go to Jamaica. Work people: "You're going to Jamaica AGAIN?! blah, blah, blah, blah..." Just smile and move on, I say..
Peace
