GB, I can feel your heart is so totally into this and it is more than a trip report, and I fully understand. You're pulling on my heart strings in a big way, making me feel a yearning I have managed to bury for some time now.....

Q, about directions to Little Bay, your best bet is if you're coming from Sav, to take a left at the ice factory at Negril Spots, between Little London and Negril. If you're driving, go on up the road past the school, around the corner to Hopewell. Stop by and have a cold something and get directions from there.... If you're on a taxi mission, grab a motorcycle taxi in, just tell them 'Little Bay', but don't forget to grab some ice at the ice factory on your way in! Not to many taxi go to Little Bay, the roads are Bad, yes, with a capital B. Motorcycle taxi is the most popular ride in, 3 or 4 to a bike. I've been on the 3 to a bike ride and all I can say is WOW, they don't slow down for the extra baggage!

Can't imagine me drivin my scooter all over? LOL, there is nowhere I won't go except to the big cities, I have no use for those places. Been all over the western 2/3'rds of the Island on one, drove by myself alone alot of places; and have more I want to see. Forget the taxi drivers, beep beep, get outa my way!!! The only thing I won't pass is a water truck! I've driven water trucks and the way they lean on those rugged roads leaves me in wonder that they do not tip more often, I'll only follow. Other than that, I just take my spot on the road and go for it, mi nah shy.....

GB, you get my vote as the most bestest and fabulous trip report of the century!!! I hope you don't get tired of feeding my/our hunger for more, anytime soon!!!!

Thanks again, everyone....IM, you are making me blush....course, we all know you feel that way because I am writing about Little Bay....I feel the need to venture onto that LB tangent, but let me talk a little more about some folks and things that happened....

About touching, that happened a lot with the kids. Adults and children just wanted to touch them, feel their hair, etc. to the point where my daughter noticed. Not that she is not physically demonstrative, just like Momma, but at times, she was overwhelmed, and would say things at night, like "why don't the kids stop touching me"...DWL

Another cute thing that she kept doing is calling Paula's son Ian a girl....I couldn't figure out why....maybe his braids, but other males had braids, and she had no trouble there....
Now, she has friends of all races and colors at home, so I didn't expect JA to be a big deal for her in that regard, but I did wonder if she would comment on the fact that we were mostly the only whites around (except Brenda). But, nothing...until Day 9....we were sitting at breakfast, and Ian was eating with us. She turned to me and said "Momma, why is HER skin brown"?

"Well, first of all honey, Ian is a boy, as I have told you a hundred times before. Secondly, HIS skin is brown because that is the color of the skin in his family, like Paula and Cudge's....anyway, isn't his pretty?" "Uh-huh...." pause....."does it come in black?" We all got a big kick out of that, especially the guys.


So people would come and sit and talk with us, sometimes inside, sometimes outside, at all times of day. I loved it.

One day, walking down the road, Cudge greeted this guy....Rootsie...he showed us his bucket full of tonics, and started listing off what they were good for....Cudge kept pressing him to move onto another, then another, until he came to one that he held up with a sparkle in his eye....he flashed Cudge a grin and a knowing look....Cudge insisted he tell us what that one was....well, it is for women...yeah, but what about woman?....well, you know for THE WOMAN...Yeah, Rootsie, but fewha? In a small, deliberate, hiss of a whisper.....

I love that pic of your baby with the booboo..His eyes are soooooo big and beautiful. Your whole family is gorgeous!

Your friends newborn looks so darn snuggly.

Another evening, a friend of Cudge's came by on his bike, with his kit and kaboodle, as my Mom would say. They told me his name, but I can't remember it exactly....Sephet, Stephan, IM do you know? They just call him Ras...short for Rasta Man. Well, this guy alone, was worth the price of admission. He showed us his pins and stuff, and they are really the only souveniors we got, but he just stayed, and talked and danced and partied with us. He was awesome...he had such a beautiful aura, and I was very happy in his presence. He and I had some nice converstion, and although our beliefs are different, they were the same....what a special man.


He blessed the children, and even showed us his Covenant. He has been growing it for 36 years or something.



Ras, really likes old school Motown, Elvis, even old Jazz....he pulled out a couple of tapes, and we talked and danced and had a blast.



And oh, did I mention the Lyrics???

funny thing about the roots.... when dan first was drawn to rasta.. hed go to harlem and come home with tons of roots.. even a carton full... at the time.. it was years ago.... i did not know it was for enhanced sexual performance.. and obviously neither did he..... He just thought it was a healthy potion...... bruce and i used to laugh about it......

wonder if it really works that way.... ill try some.. but i think it tastes terrible.. doesnt it? just like that awful noni juice for boosted immunity..

I didn't try any this time, although I have no doubt as to their effectiveness. It was mostly that he was selling stuff for menstraul cramps, (ssshhhh, sex) and a few items for other things I wasn't interested in....now If was selling something to prevent internal implosion from heat, or possibly arthritis pain, maybe...

wish I had a dollar for everytime that hair got wheeled out, lol...

the roots are all different, nina, for different purposes. not all concoctions are for the boom boom, lol...some keep you, um...regular, and some flush you out! For days...don't ask me how I know.

probably the weirdest sh!t I ever drank was tuna water.

I didn't realize that tuna was a root- I thought they were all talking about the fish, and when I asked them how they made it- they take the tuna and soak it in the sun in water for a few days, I was like, man there is no way this is crossing my lips, never ever. Capital N, capital E, capital V, capital E, capital R, NEVER. Like, Angel standing at the gate of Eden with a flaming sword never.

Well I did of course drink it, and as soon as it hit my lips, I could not help but exclaim, "Hey...this doesn't taste like fish at all!"

I think at least two of us peed our pants in laughter when they realized what I said.
