I usually retort that my Jamaican man would not like to hear what was just said to me. They back off immediately, sometimes with apologies.

So LDR do work if the love and respect for each other is there.

. There are thousands no hundreds of thousands who have LDR.. It is only soft who think this is unusul... Yes hundreds of thousands of migrant workers in the Arabian Gulf, Philipino workers, all those sailors on container ships , All those people on those boats in the gulf of mexico on oil rigs, hundreds of guys in the middle of the outback.. Most have LDRS...

MANY LDRS DO WORK, it's just that one thing those folks do to make it work is NOT talk about it on the internet (Ja.com in particular). I know several couples who WERE on here, and when it was about the work, the FIRST thing they did was get off of here and stop posting. Smart move, because I know one real person who got a WHOLE lot of nasty from here even in her private blog OFF this site.

Now let's see there is

C and A, living happily here in the States now with their baby,

There is S living happily here with her husband and kids.

There is another S living happily in Jamaica for years with her husband.

Yet another S in Jamaica with husband and kids and doing well.


There is Mr S and his wife from Jamaica, living happily here and building a retirment home in Negril. They are on year like 20 something.

My friend E and her guy in Montego Bay going on several years now, do drama.

There is B and her man making plans for a life here or there, don't matter, no drama.

There is J and T, happy and no drama after many years.

Then there would be J and her man living in Jamaica and in business

There is J and her man, no drama nd building in Jamaica.

Another J and her man, happy and with a place in Jamaica.

S&amp;K living in the States and going to Jamaica to vaction, happy .

A couple Angie knows in Atlanta, they ought to be on like year 10 or so.


There is mrs J and her husband and son living happily in the States.

Mr. R and his wife, he works for Delta, she is a US citizen, and they have one beautiful daughter who daddy adores and takes her back to Jamaica often as they fly FREE..


S.g . and her husband on baby 2 and building in Jamaica..

C and her husband to be and their blended families, he just got a 10 year visa , they are building in Jamaica, have a home in the States.

See these are NOT the stories you hear or people dwell on beacuse do we really want to hear about these??? All the he took all her money, he beat her up, he cheated on her, lied to her etc. , are the ones that tend to get the press.

Now mind you, these are just the few I know personally, and ALL of these are real people, none made up. When one goes there and you meet someone, maybe you think it COULD be you, even if it doesn't turn out right,.... and NO I am not involved with anyone, nor have I bothered in over the last 6 years of my going to Jamaica. Still I had to say, yes, some LDR's do turn out well, more than well, much better than that lousy US man on US woman first marriage I had.

well yeh, as with any subject, generalizations don't necessarily describe the true reality of a thing.

of <span style="font-style: italic">course</span> basic common sense says not to hook oneself up with an obvious gigolo or ladyoftheevening. that's just the prime directive for anyone with a lick a dang sense.

on the other hand, if someone enjoys that game and wants to play it, well that's up to them - as long as they aware and eyes open to what they're getting into. i'm not here to judge if it's right or wrong cause that's not my bizness.

and on the <span style="font-style: italic">other</span> other hand, sometimes you just never know. i once took a chance on someone (admittedly only after about 6 months of debating) who by all accounts &quot;could&quot; have been a gig - all the surface circumstancial evidence suggested he coulda been one - met him on the beach running a tour boat, etc etc etc - except he steadfastly maintained that he was NOT, that he was a decent hardworking man who did all kinds of work wherever he could get it, to support himself - and that's all i had to go on. and whaddya know, turned out he ain't never lied. and if he had lived we would be together living in our house now, which he had already started building when he passed (and mind u that was without any money or any otherwise kinda requests from him).

so yeh, if it's blatantly obvious like blueangel described then, well, don't go there.

but the reality is, that even among the prevalance of sed blatant behavior, it is not 'always' the case on an individual level. ppl just need to be intelligent and discerning, and pay attention.

Trip reports now,

as little wording as possible ( and none of it what really happened on the trip)
pictures of food water, sky, parasailing, fruit, mountains and empty roads.

Ladies, come on now and men. There are a few real relationships that work as LDR. There are few, very few. Unless you are able to stay with your SO for at least six months at a time, how can you really get to 'know' the person.?

I grew up in Jamaica for a good period of time. I saw a lot. Most men in Jamaica, have a 'wifey' and probally children and you would never know it, even if you are there for a month. Many a wife or a husband is a 'cousin' or a 'friend'. Many will go so far as to take you to meet the family and all the while they are playing you. They need your money to support 'thier' family. Have you ever wondered why, they have no problem surviving there, but they never invite you to stay living in Jamaica with them?

Then there are other's that are happy just to get the bamboo and go home no strings attached....til they go back to the island, they see the same one or get a new one to play with.

There are so many gigs to choose from, on the island and that's it. Not a big gene pool either, share, share.

If you think your SO goes without while you are away, you better think again. Jamaica is a sexy place ! They are sexy by nature. Why do you think they sell magnum, irish moss, peenie whally, sour sop juice? Cause they got to keep the seed full. Look at the wray and nephew almanac's. They are sexy in little to nothing at all. Most all. not all, but most have sex every day. So it goes.

I am not 'worried' as my man shares my roof 365 days a year. I am casting no stones as Jesus said the one with no sin let them cast the first stone. I am human therefore I've sinned. I do not see sharing idea's as sinning. I am not calling anyones name. My heart is clean and so is my concious. I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Jamaica is a sexy culture

Go to a country dance and see how young the sexiness starts. It is a learned behaviour, guess that is why I have a big strong man who is full of stanima and the size, oh the size , and we dweet everyday. Same man 4 years full blooded USA dark tall handsome. I've been very blessed. My prayers were also answerd, he has not had a drink for 3 months.

Live Up, Bless Up and ya all have a happy 4th of July and on my way to make fireworks in that big king bed

as one who disliked some of the material in some trip reports i disliked them from a nationalistic point of view...Christianity had nutten to do wid it...however, re the Christian bit, they are supposed to speak out if they see anyone who professes to be a Christian behaving in an unchristian manner....

widdout starting a war, and contributing in the spirit of the thread, one asks if any of the visitors claim Christ as their role model in life?
