well he did say to me, are you sure you are friends with my sister Kurlie? You are so quiet and sweet compared to her
every 2 minutes both of them were asking if I was alright I just couldnt convince them that I was having a blast
becuase the night was unscripted and organic, it turned out to be one of the best nights of the trip. I felt like old friends with both of them by the end of it :Bigup:

Now the first man singing was in the crowd getting drunk on his white rum but every once in a while he would grab the mic and sing. And he had a voice too!
The middle guy is part of the house band who would start things off. He is famous with a CD out and thing but I dont remember his name. Matter of fact, all the men performing were talented musicians with curreny music out.
The last guy who you cant make out too tough b/c he is against the wall was the best. This man had a beautiful voice. And when he took the mic ppl when wild.....it turns out that the man is mentally challenged. He suffered a head injury as a child and of course isnt any better for it. For most of the night he would sit in the corner with his arms folded accross him. He moved really slow like he was going to fall over at any point.
He couldnt form thoughts well enough to communicate effectively but he could remember the words to song and sing like an angel. The video I have cannot do him justice at all.
He is a testament to how music affects the human brain....

I would've loved to be with you on that likkle jaunt, Nylah, given that my big weekly outing for music is "Leroy's"....not to downplay the abilities of those musicions, but it's so nice to have a different scenerio sometimes!

There is a girl who is up against the wall where the last man is singing in the first video who had a really nice voice as well. It is just amazing to see raw talent like that. I could only imagine what some of them would be like with extra training, etc.
Ppl come out to have a little fun on a Saturday and go back home at the end of it....little do u know they are diamonds in the rough

yes I did. The Lonely Planet discusses the ruins as well. It is a lonely and desolate feeling place.... I assumed everyone knew the story but I am sure that some many not. Here it is if you are not familiar with the history

A myth exists that the great Folly Mansion was constructed by a rich American man to impress his sweetheart and convince her to move to Jamaica with him. However, corners were cut in the construction and cement was mixed with saltwater rather than fresh water. When his wife came to inspect the property it had already begun to crumble and she exclaimed "What a Folly" and flew back to America, never to return. The Folly Mansion was then left to crumble in to the ground.
<span style="font-weight: bold">The Real Story</span>
The Folly Mansion was actually built in 1905 by a retired mining engineer, Alfred Mitchell, for himself and his wife, the Tiffany heiress, Annie Tiffany. The Mansion was a grand structure in its heyday, styled on a Roman Villa with 60 rooms spread over 2 floors.
The mansion was equipped with all sorts of modern conveniences for it's day, including a wind-powered generator which pumped seawater in to an indoor swimming pool, its own power station and independent water reservoir. The Mitchell's kept all sorts of animals at their property, including peacocks and monkeys. The monkeys were bought to Jamaica by Mitchell's son-in-law, the explorer Hirman Bingham who was married to Mitchell's daughter, Alfreda. The monkeys were soon given the free-run of the nearby island which has subsequently been renamed Monkey Island.
During his stay at the Folly Mansion in 1911, Mitchell's other son-in-law (the British Astronomer Sir James Deans, who was married to his other daughter, Charley) made a sighting of Haley's comet.
Alfred died in 1911 and Annie continued to live at Folly Mansion until the outbreak of World War One, when she returned to the USA. The Mansion has since fallen in to a state of abandonment, has crumbled in to the ground with time and is now somewhat vandalised. This has not stopped it from becoming and alluring destination, attracting many sightseers, photographers

That Folly place would be a fabulous place for bridal wedding portraits. THe young bride in her pure white gown would be a stark contrast to the crumbling ruins, and yet it has a royal air to it. Can you picture that?
