Gonna put the trip to the British Museum in a slideshow link and however is interested can take a look there.



I'll post only a few pictures from the museum that were interesting to me. The religious and spiritual artifacts held the most fascination for me.

This is a curse tablet from ancient Egypt. The curse against your enemies is written backwards on the tablet and then is nailed to the wall to &quot;fix&quot; them. Similar to what is done in Obeah.



Curses or blessings are carved into nails and the nails are use for various purposes including used in the foundation of a house to protect it.

I still struggle with the dignity issue when it comes to viewing dead people as items on display. As much as I am curious as the next person, I still feel crunchy inside. Seems disrespectful. Yes, they are dead and dont know the difference...sorta ...but I am alive and know the difference.

Anyhoo, enough of my existentiala angst. Here is one of the many mummies on display.

This i didnt know happened after the industrial revolution. Money was assigned labour units as its value. You traded your 10 units of labour for what the state considered the equivalent value. Imagine that trying to work today

Other spiritual items I loved.

These are mexican spirit figures.









This one was interesting. An old English statue of Moses. Because of the mis-interpretation of a biblical passage when Moses descended from the mountain with a halo around his head. The word for halo was intrepreted as horns, so statues of Moses were made with horns coming out of his head.



Yoruba statue of a twin. If one dies, the statue is made and treated as though it is a living child. Since twins are part of a whole, to lose one is to put the other one out of balance thru life. This restores that unity.

According to the plaque, the concept of &quot;Satan&quot; didnt begin in China until the 16th century. This is a distinction between demons and angels and incorporating ultimate evil in the idea of Satan.

Our flight was for 3pm and I wanted to get to the airport early given the security in London. We left out mid morning. Our neighbor's son drives one of the infamous black cabs in London. He does tours as well for the London tourist board so if anyone wants info just let me know.

Before we headed to Heathrow, he gave us a tour of the West End. As soon as we were leaving the sun came out....

I was there when I was in London last september, went to the amazing Moctezuma exhibition. Not the first time I was in the British Museum. There is so much amazing stuff to see there, everything the Brits stole during their empire days. Well, at least I'm lucky to be able to see it all in one place.....
