the jamaican land ownership rules are much the same... Ultimately the Crown owns all the land/ mineral rights.... But you have rights to your land.. There are a number of limits as to what you can do with your land...

But there are three types of ownership.. Freehold, Lease Hold and Fuedal hold...

Freehold is in perpetutity, lease hold is for a fixed perion and you pay rent to the nominal owner...Fuedal is a bit in between... 999 yeaars leasehold with no grown rent..

Yup happens here too. As soon as one of my friends, who is Jamaican, was promoted to manager, the White boys on the team barged into the VPs office and DEMANDED to know what the <span style="font-weight: bold">EDIT </span> he thought he was doing. The games, the foolishness she had to put up with. However, eventually, even they had to admit that she was their best manager ever. When she was promoted to Director, she had hell to pay. She was given such a warm time that she eventually quit and has never gone back to the corporate sector.

Sardine there are a thousand tales in the big city, yes that is true. I am not even arguing that. My point is that your Uncle doesnt represent the average Jamaican. Even my family has had their experiences that make your skin crawl. That still doesnt mean I would state that the *majority* of dont own their own homes, etc.

German is the only language added. French was in high school, so I understand it and communicate when I must.

I wouldn't say that I lived in all those places just been to them enough time to get a good enough impression.

It is true about the secretary. One of them even went crying to the boss say that I disrespected her. The only thing she did get fe bawl bout is everytime she haffu mek out the payment.

I am not questioning how it is possible for someone to own/purchase a house and NOT the land beneath it, I am questioning why ANYONE would want to choose that route. He or she does not own the land suh how can it be passed down from generation to generation.

u know I learnt alot on here about black people ..

1) most black british are lazy
2) most are on the dole
3) most live in social housing...
4) most black men are married to white women
5) most black people dont finish high school eveb though university is cheap...
6) most black people dont have any opertunity in the uk.
7) Black people are too stupid to understand the diference between council housign and home ownership.
8) most inter racial couples live in milton keynes...(my favoite)

This has got to beat when you insited I was a woman or when Dr James proposed to me....or the woman who insits I am married to a white ooman....

Its naive and silly for anyone to compare the Us and the UK with regards to ethnic and race relation,they are two completely different sociological entities,the dynamics are different,the history is different,and the sociological interaction is different.

The US has had a fairly long history of blacks,whereas here in the UK apart from a very tiny minority of blacks settlement in liverpool, black people only began to settle in the UK after the end of world war 2,that is a fairly very short time.
Most of the original settlers have either now returned or died out,what we have here now are mainly second and third generation blacks,one can only assess black people`s progress in this country based on the short period of time we have had time to stamp our influence on the society,britain is a melting pot of different ethnicities,most of them settlers after world war 2,and if one was to look at the difference between blacks and indians and pakistanis (who settled here during the same period)you would find that black people have made considerable progress in comparison.

It is just the way things are,and admittedly there are still some archaic laws,but things work very smoothly once you understand how de ting set.

The issue with freehold and leasehold has never posed any problem as far as I know,I own my own property,and once a year I get a letter from some bloke I`ve never met who asks me for a paltry sum for the land my house is on,I can chose to pay for the year,or for two year,which works out at about £30,its no big deal...its just the way things are.
