Tropi I grew up in Jamaica and I knew a vast array of people. I laboured for my daily bread as a informal unskill labourer.. And being a non black Jamaoica. I know black Jamaicans called me a cruff and other such niceties because of how I expressed myself. its cool..(I recall the black house worker in Mandiville area when I went to beg a likkle wuk run mi like a dawg and the sweetest chinese black little girl who told her she was nat suh nice.. I am convinced it was Jazz)....

I know I had been told I chatted bad alot espceically by loweer middle class be black Jamaicans. I find it astonishing that the same type of peoples children now grown up veiw what their parents called chatting bad as badge of jamaicanness....

I knew a number of non black Jamaicans and they talked like black Jamaicans. I labboured with a number of Indians chapping cane in Westmoreland.. I broke stones with Jamaican white in Manchester, Dug marl with some chinese is StE.... Picked coffee wiht Jamaican jews in the blue mountains. I understood them when they spoke and as far as I know they spoke like me....

You know the funny thing was that Jamaicans at the time did not seem to think that non black Jamaicans as anything surprsising..

In Jamaica a black british lady I know was astonished when her aunts after two minutes conversation wiuth me.. Told her that I was a Jamaican. (She assumed that her breif vists and Jamaican parents granteed her some sort of exclusive veiw on Jamaica which for the sake of amusement I newver tried to disuade her from) Does this ancedote not illustrate the point that it is those who are socialised by metropole societies imagine that Jamaicaness is based monochrome entity.

I am more interested in Britisha who went to the lovely named Imaculate conception.. ( I love to practice for non imaculate conception with some attractive women) at a time when it was an exclusive girl school has to say on the white, indians and jewish members of her cohort. Did they speak like her ? Did tehir speech pattersn influence her, did her speech patterns influence them ???

How manu on here had parents who tried to disuade them from speaking patwa ???

since black Jamaicans have no power that is not achieved due to the patronage of non-black Jamaicans.
since it is the nonblacks that have the money to finance political partiesz. It is the nonblacks, that own the media houses that write the stoiries favourabel to the favoured politicians.
It is the nonbalcks that owns the economic engines of the country. How and who drive them out??? </span>
