Agreed... That is why this 100 days of Obama in office stuff I found funny for example. Obama said in a speech in response - that he rested on the 100th day lol

nuff of the behaviour is about basic human nature cause I have nuff Asian friends that say they wont deal with them own kind for the above reasons too.

I think because black ppl as a collective whole has endured discrimination we wnat to assume that one of our own will not be part of the problem as well. So we hold our kin to a higher standard when in truth we are diverse in nature and behaviour as any other group.

It just stings more when the perpetrator is someone who looks like you

You've hit the nail square on its head. What is even more disturbing are the people who you confront, who'll turn every topic that addresses REAL issues into a personal attack or a laughing matter. Speaks volumes about their lack of confidence, I think.

Some of these groups (who claim they struggle internally) will say anything to mitigate risk...while they only hire their own.

Because black people are generally publicly stereotyped, they can paint any picture they like. No difference in how companies like Accenture (for example) train their managers to behave in public...never share your plans for success with the competition, always let them believe you are facing the same dilemma.

that's true, nylah. but this tendency, again, is not limited to us because we are not the only ones to have experienced discrimination at the hands of others.

i don't want to come off as defending crabs in a barrel syndrome. just saying let's cut ourselves some slack as a people. in a way, saying black people are like crabs in a barrell is a bit crab in a barrellish itself.

My personal experience is that those who I get the most jealousy from is of another race.
Possibly because the majority in the business is of that race, or something.

It is a common psychological expression , by any person who really believe they lack the ability to achieve at your level. It is the cause of a common behavior, that many who volunteer find shocking.
That is the behavior of the person who is assisted against their will, will usually try to prove in their first opportunity, that they really didn't need it in the first place.
This is done by trying to prove that they are better than their benefactor. It happens and if you want to be prepared to deal with do a few courses in psychology </span>

I agree Milo. It's time we move past this though. It's like someone lick someone dung wid dem cyar and instead a call de ambulance, go to the hospital and get healed, we sit forever cursing the cry driver and using the fact that we can't walk for every striking thing. It's time we got past this self-loathing internalized oppression garbage and started to support, encourage and big up one another.
