Frankly I see absolutely nothing wrong about refering to someone from a smaller island as &quot;small islander&quot;,...or someone from the country as &quot;country man/woman/,..these terms are rarely used derogatorily,it,s simply how jamaicans like to break things down,..a man with only one leg is called &quot;oneie&quot;, a short man is called &quot;shawty&quot;even my cousin who has barely any front teeth is called &quot;gummy&quot;,..it,s just the way we roll.

As after dinner discussions go,this is not a bad topic to discuss on the verandah with a couple glass of white rum,however in my opinion it is the small islanders who should assess how they view Jamaica,they are the ones with the inferiority complex.
You should try living here in europe where everyone has nothing good to say about their neighbour,the stereotypes are in abundance,yet everyone recognises what is good from each.

Nothing wrong there...I love country living also..but she seemed a tad too eager to deflate...fully well knowing how the term is used...
