I wasn't. I was in the dining room and the butler's kitchen, not the kitchen, when she came down from the bathroom upstairs... and for several minutes afterwards.

Talking distance, not the same room. Walls between us and with doors - although the doors were ajar.

The kitchen is next to the butler's kitchen, which is, in turn, next to the dining room. Three rooms abreast with the butler's kitchen in the middle.

I was in and out of all three rooms, back and forth, moving things around.
And I wasn't really payig particular attention to my friend. I wasn't looking at her. We were just chatting. She was cleaning my 1941 enameled cast iron stove, and I was moving things out of my kitchen, and then scrubbing my stainless steel countertop. This puts my back to her when in the kitchen (same room) with her. We really didn't <span style="font-style: italic">LOOK</span> at each other, just talked to each other.

It's done, over with, finished. None of us can change a thing.
I can't even change being sick over it. (sick in the mental/emotional sense)
It is what it is.

The jewelry is no longer in my house or my possession. It, too, is gone. Mr Witchy's daughter has it in the vault at her jewelry store. She is going to keep it there for the time being. Her mother suggested this. (Her mother is Mr Witchy's last girlfriend before me, whom he asked to marry him, and when she said no because she knew she was too much of a farm girl to live in the city happily, she actively hunted 'the right girl' for Mr Witchy and found ME. So she and I are good friends, just as she and he are.) She sees no reason to rush into any decisions, and her daughter has no reason not to just leave my rings and cross in her vault for the time being.
So, for now, I'm wearing my sterling silver rings.
(which drives Mr Witchy's daughter <span style="font-style: italic">CRAZY</span> - dwl - she says she's gonna make me a pretty, but inexpensive, gold wedding band to wear for now. She's a gold freak. she can't stand to see me wearing silver - lol)


I just can't handle this entire incident. I can't deal with my longtime friend attempting to steal from me... and to try to steal my wedding and engagement rings! and my Greek cross! She knew the provenance of that cross!!
