We are world beaters in sprints but we are more prolific in denial...

Mugabe is out of order but so many people and countries have something to say about us...our nation is in trouble...things like this should spark serious national discussion...
Mugabe can be rebuked for his broad brush but we have to acknowledge that the direction of a vast number of the young (and some old) people are keeping up with some madness...
Just go on YouTube and check out some daggerin parties...

Relax BlackStar. Mi nevah call Usain name in ANY a dis. De ongle ting mi ave im up fah is im omanizing and his poor taste in women. That is a different discussion but the womanizing reputation of Jamaican men is not helping anyone. Usain does speak and present himself well. Not sure why he is still dropping his &quot;h&quot;s but it is not to the point of making him come across as illiterate.

The same can't be said for all Jamaican born athletes...and mi not just talkin' today. We had a generation represented by the likes of Donald Quarrie, Herbert McKinley and Arthur Wint who carried themselves with dignity. They were articulate. They represented Jamaica well and this caused others to speak well of us. Some of the young ones should take a lesson from them. I think it's fun for my guy Warren Weir to release videos like Coolspot in Patois. There is a difference between play time and work time. When a member of the foreign press is interviewing you...speak English. Ditto for Yohan Blake. I notice the female athletes all speak well. I don't know why the guys think that if they speak English it will make them look less Jamaican...or perhaps less macho.

Again no one has called Sizzla's name or spoken about the way he presents himself. To be frank, mi noh know nutten bout im. I don't know his music and until this thread was started, I never saw any videos with him. I have now seen one video that was done for a Jamaican audience. I have not seen any of his foreign interviews. So before you get your drawers in a not Wahalla, no one has criticized Sizzla.

I did post <span style="font-weight: bold"> numerous </span>examples of artistes who in my opinion do not present themselves well and who have helped create a very negative perception of Jamaican me internationally.

We are all in agreement here...his impression is wrong and as a head of state he should never have made his comment.

to be an artist takes in my opinion alot of hard graft.. sizzla longevity suggests that he has paid his dues.. that he found a market for his product that is fine. I have no problem with any Jamaican artist...

I dont agree with Sizzala morality, religion or dress sense.. I dont care if he takes drugs.. He is selling a product that adds positively to the Jamaican balance of payment.. It is a primary product, it is interlectually sophisticated.. value adding..

Culturally he is against the christian parasites that advocate a talibanisation of culture...That he is doing what Manley jnr called South south dialogue and he should be encouraged... not sure he would approve though.. But to me it is a beautiful that a Jamaican artist can interact succcesfully in Africa...

SINGJAY Sizzla will go ahead with two shows in Zimbabwe next month despite disparaging comments reportedly made by that country's president about Jamaican men.
The shows, scheduled for the capital Harare, kick off the 'Jah Put a Hand on Africa' tour which is headlined by Sizzla.

Sound system owner and producer Everton 'Caveman' Moore, is part of the tour. He will be making his third visit to Zimbabwe in as many years.
He sees nothing wrong with Mugabe's reported remarks that Jamaica is run by women because its men are always 'sloshed', due to heavy drinking and marijuana use.
&quot;If he really said so, it's not inaccurate. Look how much youth pon the corners a rub out dem han' middle,&quot; said Caveman.
He added: &quot;Again, if he said so, we should see it as a wake-up call. It's something we need to address.&quot;
Mugabe reportedly made the remarks two weeks ago at an official function in Harare.
Caveman accompanied Sizzla when the roots artiste visited Zimbabwe in January, 2010 for shows in the city of Bulawayo and Harare.
He said they were hosted by Mugabe at an official reception in Bulawayo. They returned in February when Sizzla performed as part of Mugabe's 86th birthday celebrations.
In 2011, Caveman returned to Harare where he helped produce local reggae artistes.
He said Mugabe seemed to have great admiration for Jamaica when he met him two years ago.
&quot;He said he has always loved Jamaica because there is so much similarity with his country,&quot; Caveman said.
Mugabe has been president of Zimbabwe since 1980. For many years, the country was known as Rhodesia, a renegade state run by the racist Ian Smith.
In the years leading to independence, Mugabe led freedom fighters in a bloody bush war against white rule. One of their biggest heroes was reggae superstar Bob Marley.
Marley performed at independence celebrations in Harare in April, 1980.
In addition to Sizzla, other artistes on the Jah Put a Hand on Africa tour are Fred Locks, Wildlife and Fabian Marley from Jamaica, and Trinidadians Orlando Octave, Khari Kill and Singing Carlene.
They will be backed by the High Cymbal Band.

<span style="font-style: italic">Fred &quot;Stafford Elliot&quot; Locks is a jamaican roots reggae singer, born in Kingston in 1955, who started recording at the age of 13 for Coxsone Dodd, Randy's and Lee &quot;Scratch&quot; Perry.
In 1971, having decided to immerse himself in the Rastafarian faith, we went living at the beach at Harbour View. Elliot allowed his locks to grow to a great length, giving rise to his nickname of 'Fred Locks'. During his time living on the beach, he continued to write songs, one of which, &quot;Black Star Liners&quot;, referring to Marcus Garvey's shipping line (Black Star Line) originaly intended to transport black Americans to Africa as part of the Back-to-Africa movement, came to the attention of producer and Twelve Tribes member Hugh Boothe. Boothe persuaded Locks to record the song, and it was released in 1975 on the Jahmikmusic label in Jamaica, and on Grounation in the United Kingdom, propelling Locks to cult status.</span>

This was a <span style="font-size: 14pt">HUGE </span>hit for him.</span>
