I did nothing wrong. An American .... a foreigner .... tried to dictate what Jamaica and Jamaicans should do. She was out of line and I told her so. That was being assertive and there is nothing wrong with being assertive. If more people were assertive, America would not be able to butt into the affairs of countries all over the world. That would be a good thing.

You aren't even Jamaican...how dare you tell Jamaica what to pick for the official language. You don't get to vote on this one. Whether you (and others) like it or not English is still Jamaica's official language. Patois is not a language....it is a dialect. There is a difference. </div></div>

not to step into queenb's business but I believe she is of jamaican descent and is eligible for jamaican citizenship through her descent.

I believe one of her grandparents was Jamaican and this does not entitle her to Jamaican citizenship. She has always identified herself as an American not a Jamaican

Under Chapter two of the Jamaican Constitution, persons born in Jamaica and persons born outside Jamaica of Jamaican parents have an automatic right to Jamaican citizenship. Applications for Jamaican Citizenship are done in different categories. These include applications for citizenship:
Descent

Marriage

Naturalization

Registration (Commonwealth)

Registration (Minor)


Based on Descent

By law, all persons born outside of Jamaica, who have a claim to Jamaican citizenship by descent, whether through parents or grandparents, are required to formally apply for the Certification of Jamaican Citizenship. Doesn't clarify how many grandparents need to be Jamaican, that would be interesting to clarify:

If applying through Jamaican grandparents:

a) Applicant’s full birth certificate

b) Applicant’s passport

c) Applicant’s marriage certificate (if applicable)

d) Father/mother’s birth certificate and passport

e) Maternal/paternal grandparent’s birth certificate and passport (preferably Jamaican)

f) Parent’s/grandparent’s marriage certificate (if applicable)

All applications should be accompanied by two certified passport-sized photographs.

Applicants should submit the completed application form to the offices of PICA if applying in Jamaica or the offices of a Jamaican High Commission/Consulate if overseas and present original documents which will be copied and certified as true copies of the originals and your original documents (e.g. birth certificate, passport etc) and are returned to you immediately.

The bottom line is that Busy Bee has never identified herself as a Jamaican, always as an American and that is a fact.

I would <span style="font-weight: bold">never s</span>tep out of line and tell people in another country whether it is India, Sweden or Nigeria what they should or should not do...what they should or should not choose for their language, flag, national anthem, etc.

If I was ever so facety, bright, out of order, and just plain rude as to attempt that and someone put me in my place, I would humbly apologize because I would deserve it.

If you think it's okay for foreigners to interfere, we will have to agree to disagree.

As for blondes, last time I checked, they were not a country so your attempt to draw a parallel is just pain silly. You will have to come with better than that.

True this Kia as Queen Grandparent was Jamaican.

I got my Jamaican Citizenship few years ago based on this. Could have gotten through my Jamaican Father also.

My son (almost nine months old) also in the process of getting his Jamaican citizenship based on my being a naturalized jamaican and grandparent/greatgrandparent being jamaicans. This process though took longer but it can be done.
