ilp...the triathlon is on for June 23rd. Three weeks to go. Next Saturday is training day. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img] The swim and bike will be the challenge. I can not go no more than a 100yd swimming freestyle and nuh feel like mi a dead. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img] To keep my endurance up I have to alternate between freestyle and backstroke.

Been working on the hill climb for the bicycle ride. Got my bike all tuned up and Saturday I'm shopping for wet suit. For the past 3 weeks I've been alternating the bike ride and running, but I swim train every single day. Tuesday I trained as if I'm doing the triathlon ... swam (25 laps), rode gym bicycle for 10 miles using the alpine trail (dat almost kill me), and ran for 2.5 miles. Tomorrow I plan to train that way, this time riding the gym bike for 15 miles and running the full 3 miles. Haven't done any group ride and that's something I need. I'm anxious for the day to come and nervous about the event. My goal is to just finish the race.

Sandi your schedule looks good. However, I dont see any wieghts in there. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70456-eyebrows.gif[/img] How come? Anyway, you only have 2 more good weeks to train as you will need to cut back the week of the race.

Try to get out on the road with other cyclists. that way you wont be scared of them race day. also learning to pass (on the road) is a must. like you need anything else to do on you off days, remember to do some transitions work (water, to bike, to run).

nerves are good!!! that means you will do well.

Went out this mawnin, just as he made his arrival.

I had a good week exercise-wise, balanced with nuff restaurant trips from last Saturday to yesterday [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70374-lipsrsealed.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/dance01.gif[/img] This morning I had to go into work for a little while so I rode. It was very nerve-racking and my legs hurt at times so I had to walk. I found that surprising as I run a few times a week. Then again my gear changing wasn't that great so I probably made it harder than it needed to be [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] The journey took me just under an hour each way.

Cycling home was much better with fewer walking breaks. It helped that the road was fairly empty so my mistakes didn't come close to causing myself serious injury. Anyway I learned that I need to leave off the rucksack and attach it to the bike as I sweat too much, so off to the bike shop over the weekend. For some reason I slide forward on the seat so I'll have to get that addressed also.

All in all, I enjoyed the cycling experience and I'll be doing it again soon before I lose my nerve (again) [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

Saturday I ran 4 miles...nutten but hill climb, mi nearly dead. Seriously, I think I fractured couple toes on right foot. Kept off it for a week but still feeling the stress whenever I run. Sunday was lazy day...only activity I did was mulching the garden. (I love yard work!)

Got my Zoot suit. The price for wet suit was out the roof...600 bucks. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] I will survive the swim in the cooler temperature water minus the wet suit. Did 10 miles of cycling traversing various high slopes today...my legs were burning. After that I transitioned to a 2 mile run. This week my focus will be running and cycling uphill and quick transition between the two.

ilp---have been doing plyometrics and calisthenics for strength training. The pool at the gym closed for maintenance this week...just hope they re-open on schedule.

Went to the gym yesterday lunchtime and did my 40 mins. It was nice and steady. This morning, as I've got the day off for medical appointments, I dragged my tired legs out of the bed and did a 3 mile jog. Not sure how long it took but I concentrated on staying upright, not leaning forward which is my usual running style and keeping a steady pace. It was difficult but I felt a lot better for it.

Can't do any weights at the moment as I'm getting treated for a damaged shoulder, so more running tommorrow [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-sleeping.gif[/img]

I dont know about swimming in a lake right now without a suit. The water temps are still pretty cold, but you know what is best for you. As for me, went cycling today. About 25 miles. I am going running in the morning so I will see how the legs do.

Taking the day of tomarrow, then Satidey I will hit the road for a long ride.

I ran 4 miles earlier...siddung here wearing the sweaty clothes and gotta go take a shower. Still having problems with my foot, so I wrapped it up to the ankle and the pain wasn't too obvious. I love circuit training! I'm thinking of scaling back on my training...the one thing I haven't touched in weeks is my yoga and want to get back to it. After this tri I'm going to give my body a week break...no form of physical activity.

Ok. An update. Saw my ortho...did I already tell you guys this? Anyway...seems like there is no real damage to my knee other that whats normal for (as he put it) a normal older woman who is heavier than the average runner. Bwoy...you shoulda see my knee reflex work at that moment...BLAM...me kick him right where it hurt! (or not really...but I wanted to)

Anyway...it seems I have stated to (or maybe always have) be a pronator...and its putting new preasure on my knees. Funny how I have ran half marathons without knee pain but all of a sudden I couldnt go 3 miles. So he suggested cusioned arch supports...if that doesnt work...try a new shoe made for pronators...well so far the $5 pair of supports I got a walmart have done the trick. I did 3 miles on Tuesday and not a bit of knee pain.

HOWEVER...Lawd Fadda God am I outa shape. My stamina is WAY down.

I spent the entire day where the triathlon will be held...training. My husband went with me for support and to deal with the logistics of tuning up bike.

Swam the lake...500 yds. The water was warm, some sections were cool but it felt good. I had to switch from freestyle to backstroke...my sense of direction in the open water sucks, that will be my challenge, as it's not easy figuring out where you are when doing backstroke.

The bike ride...lawd that is the killer and I mean serious killer. 18 miles of continuous rolling hills. Waaaaaay too many hills to climb but I did it. A few times I had to push the bike uphill...I think I missed which gear I was in and couldn't pedal...had to get off. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] Learnt some things along the way though that should make it less stressful come the big day. Geezam! Wi have one big massah hill fi climb at T1 (after swim and grab bike). When I saw it, mi clutch mi heart.

The run was good. Most of it is on dirt/gravely trail. The trail was nice, calming, lots of trees, birds...I saw couple bluebirds and a hummingbird. I definitely felt like I was in my element on the run and it was my cool down period.

Most of the folks who were there today had competed in a triathlon(s) before, so I was the "baby" on the block. Gotta say that the competitors certainly provide the peer support as I was nervous as heck ... and this was only train day! They're continuing training tomorrow, but I want to rest and be at home.

me did start back bout two weeks ago(memba mi did stop sake a di recurring bronchitis)...teking it easy...

i think that this week (finally) I'm gonna start week 4 of the one hour runner.
