I ran this afternoon and then cycled...i'm pretty tired, but feel good. I'll go out again tomorrow, then rest on friday. Saturday is a practice run in NY.

I'm ashamed to say I didn't do a stroke of running or anything else this past week. Thursday evening I went through two medium-size bars of chocolate and realised that I had to stop this, so Friday I went cold turkey [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby.gif[/img]. I'm telling you eating nuts/fruit as a chocolate substitute was very painful and I discovered hunger too. Don't even get me started on the increased water intake (which I needed anyway). I almost moved my laptop to the ladies and done [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

This morning it's pouring with rain and and I was out last night with my friend so I'm staying home to rest. Tomorrow I'm back in the gym or out on the road [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70458-applaud.gif[/img]

well I am writing this update from The Millinium Hotel on 44th Street in NYC. Did a practice run through the triat course yesterday. It is [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] my legs feel like boards...dead ones at that. I was able to survey everything but the lake (it was closed and wont open until race day, this upcoming weekend) and I think I will be able to finish (I'm not looking for time anymore, just looking to complete) [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I plan to piddle around here until later this evening, then will be driving home.

Oh, before I forget...this hotel is way nice (for a NY hotel). In the heart if Manhattan, but not too in the middle of all of the excitement. The staff has been way cool, they arranged transport to Harriman (of course for a fee [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] ) It really is a shame that I am so tired, Bryan Denehee (sorry about the spelling) is playing in Inherit the Wind literally across the street (I can see the marquis from the hotel window) and I aint walking over there. Did a 5k run and today I ran 6 miles on a nature trail...excellent. Yesterday I had plans to ride my bicycle but only got as far as airing the tyres and oiling the chain. ~lol~ Mi sign up for a sprint triathlon called Octomax to occur on June twenty third. I'm here reading the training plan. I have to find a triathlete club if I want to train with a group. Closest one to me charges $50 to signup... thought it would've been free. If I can train on my own...find as many resources on the 'net, I think I'll be fine.

I think you can train on your own because you have trained before (with your 1/2). I find the group helpful only on the days when I am tired and unmotivated (and these days motivation is an issue a lot [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70374-lipsrsealed.gif[/img] ), they break up the boredom. Last night was such a night and one of the guys I ride with had me rolling at one point, so hard that I literally almost crashed my bike. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] The group is also someone LIVE and in person that can share my misery [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I am looking at beginnertriathlete.com [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif[/img] where was this site when I started all those months ago [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img] ? Turns out my husband's physical therapist is a triathlete....iron man at dat. LOL! She giving me nuff advice...believe me the swim is the scary part. She said I can train on my own and she'll give tipss. Today I trained... 60 min bike and 30 min swim. My swim endurance isn't all that good with freestyle swimming. I practiced my form by holding a float in left arm and stroked with right arm only and vice versa wasn't too bad. Commit myself to swim train every day, the bicycle and running I can do every other day...strength training is already part of my regiment. Some things like my kickboxing will have to take a step back for the next 5 weeks...

Having done nothing last week, I went back to the gym Monday lunchtime and did 30 mins on the elliptical machine then 5 mins on the treadmill. Yesterday evening I took my tired body out, in the light rain, for I don't know how long or how far. Felt like I was out for hours and did miles but I'm sure it wasn't [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-sleeping.gif[/img]

Ain't doing a thing today but doing hills tomorrow [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img] I just feel tired from morning til evening, even with 7 hours sleep [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

ILP - I slipped and had a bar of chocolate Sunday evening but none since. Did hills yesterday with the running club, having jogged there as a warmup. It was hard going but I managed to do 4 before I admitted defeat. The others, who are all dedicated runners, managed 7 and upwards AND made it look so easy, apart from the gasping for air at the end [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif[/img]

My first race is July. A 5k corporate run. I'm taking it fairly easy this year. Then I've another 5k in September, a 10 miler in October and I'm waiting on the Nike 10k to be announced. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

OK. So we (di current mr ilp ahn mi) arrived at the park at 6 am. We check in and talk to the race organizers about logistics, etc. Then we pick up our ankle chips and go to the staging area to eat and use the port-a-potty's. It sound like you guys had a good time. Can imagine how you're glad it is over. ~lol~ So why didn't you do the swim part? Mi could just see myself sitting dung at the finish line and not knowing the ankle chip stop in the final staging area. Well you did it and yu fi go do another one!

Right now I'm quasi-excited...my swim endurance isn't all that...thankfully, the gym I go to has a pool and I've been swim training every single day for the past week.

didnt do the swim part because swim training during the school year would be terrible for the hair (IMO).
