Juss like back in the old days...The most impressive building is the Court House........

TSMall- It took me a minute to decipher the same thing when I first got on too It is just his personality. He did try to check me at the end of the tour but throughout the day I came to realize that he was a player

remo - aint that the truth eh? I was thinking just how much crime Portie get to warrant a building that size??? Other than feeling sick I am wel rested from my trip...just longing to go back and continue

I am still waiting on the videos to continue so unno will have to sit tight until later this afternoon.

I mentioned earlier that I was reading the <span style="font-weight: bold">Book of Night Women </span> while I was in JA. Driving thru the Maroon Towns really brings a book like that alive. You imagine the Maroons fighting off the British from these places that of course look much different than it does today - more jungle density et al.

But you also picture them re-capturing runaway slaves and sending them back to the plantations for money.

These areas of Jamaica are beautiful and lush. And you try to see that same beauty thru the eyes of one of your ancestors that was as slave back then.....imagine the sheer misery of their lives an the brutality they suffered thru against a tropical paradise background. They longed for freeom an these Maroon towns were the source. But you come to realize that your eyes cannot be theirs in many ways because you have to luxury to look around and enjoy the beauty of the island in a very different way.

That court house was actually given the Jamaican government in exchange for the original one that is now a branch of the NCB bank.

It was given by one of the citizens of your country, and set on the water on land that will gradually sink in the water logged soil.

So they better start using it before it dies.
The problem is that wanted to remove the mostly throng of unwashed Jamaican from the commercial center of the city.

I was looking at the NCB Bank and I know it looks familar....the original courthouse and the post office next to it.
