Given Bob's appearance at the liberation of one African Nation, and his interest in Black people everywhere, I think he WOULD have been there, especially if he had been invited. I think he would have too much grace to have turned down his brother on such an occassion.

Bob marley most certainly was into politics,I totally disagree that he was not into politics,he may not have been directly <span style="font-weight: bold">involved </span> in political affairs but most of what he lick out against was to do with the system which was driven by politics.

Bob marley went to africa to celebrate the independence of zimbabwe,he promoted through his music the struggle of african liberation and confronting the social order,...which is all political driven.

For anyone to suggest that he was not into politics is either naive,or totally barmy,this was a man who wrote songs decrying the status quo of the existing social order which is politically driven,he visited ethiopia and stayed at shashamene and was feted by the then marxist government,he supported the liberation struggle in zimbabwe,and performed at their independence,he celebrated the birthday of gabon`s president omar bongo,he performed in boston to raise funds for the freedom fighters in namibia,south africa,and zimbabe,the concert was called &quot;amandla&quot; and he gave an impromptu speech on african unity.

To say that Bob wasnt into politics is to do the man`s memory a diservice,while it may be true that he appeared to support no particular political party,he was most definitely up to his neck in politics,his whole life was a political struggle,the bob marley foundation seeks to promote stronger relationships between the african union,and african governments.

as for being called a celeb,...it is true,he probably didnt see himself as a celebrity,but I`m sure he recognised that he was one,....as is the case with most celebrities.

As for being at obama`s inauguration,...well.....he was at zimbabwe`s independence,no doubt this is the kind of occasion that would have had him chomping at the bit to perform at,without a shadow of a doubt.

the zimbabwe celebrations was completely different scenario than an anerican inauguration...
zimbabwe had just thrown off white minority rule and bob had been a part of that liberation struggle with his song 'zimbabwe';
can't understand why people see similarities there...
