I am ambivalent.... why not exploit the natural resources ... here there is nothing being destroyed merely an idea developed and returns on investemetn...

I have been to shows in Egypt...where history is disneyfied...

I take my children to viking villages and picts villages where for 12 pounds they get a lecture... on scotish culture and religion/ ancient superstion ???

In Italy I had a tour of the vatican... in disney land I watched mciky mouse tour... yet is it any different than what Jamaicans are doing with rasta then the native Australians are doing ?????

The Tainos do this in Puero Rico.. the Sioux in Montana ... The Mexica do this in mexico city.. in guetamala they will sell youy a genuwine maya head dress made in China...do this and sell some watered down version of the great spirit.. Why should rasta be any different from any of these ?????


natives/ belevers exploting the remants of their culture... the echos of their belief,,,, why shoulf Jamaicans not exploit the religion we developed...??? Rasta should have done this long ago and keep thte version they hope to develop.. this could have been used to developed other acedemic research.. instead it is a simple comericail proposition... that will fade ....

A slap in the face of Pinnacle?

Pinnacle was the exploitation of a nascent expression of Black Power and was he imagined was Black Culture by one man with the expressed intention of codifying it into a religion, based around the worship of one man.
Every person that found themselves on the threshold of this new religion did not bow to the tenets of Pinnacle, so it not as if Pinnacle what the epicenter of Rastafarian beliefs and practices.

Pinnacle passed, while other villages, compounds and gatherings came after. Very little about Pinnacle was remembered or said then and in the time that has passed since.
It took a foreigner to brave insults and other forms of intimidations to right a book about the First Rasta.
Her exploitation of the memory of Pinnacle earned her a similar wattage of fake-outrage; misrepresentation of her intent, tarring and feathering that the folks operating this Village has come under.
It is nothing new, just Jamaicans being Jamaicans!
