this is news to you guys?

it's a no-brainer...white male is the power structure...they tend to have an easier time hiring black females than black males...i'm sure they enjoy looking &amp; whatever else at black females more than black males as well, feel less threatened, etc.
not to mention far more black woman graduate college than black men...any number of factors...
but i'm willing to entertain someone who can debunk my statement with convincing arguments;

Lawks missis mi know what mi look like mi have mirrors an mi know seh mi look white, have never denied. and as for my hair, when I do go to a black salon it has to be a male doing my hair because I don't trust women in my head. However my first choice of hairdresser for my hair specifically is a lebanese male.

off the top of my head for black salons in the city

There is Wesley at Exquisite, Curls, roots, bea's braiding, mahagony... and then there are indiviuals who specialise in black hair but work out of a &quot;non-black centric&quot; salon.

but as mi look white I wouldn't reall know which ones are rated A1

so let's scratch the surface:

ur source says black professional women now &quot;outpace&quot; black professional men in Corporate America. &quot;outpace&quot;? that means they are NOW being <span style="font-style: italic">hired </span>at a greater rate than black men - the historical reality being that black men have a longer history of being represented in corporate america than black women

there are NOW more black women in 38,000 companies than black men; however the difference between the two numbers is relatively small, AND it's only in what i would call a fraction of the companies that make up corporate america.

black men still outnumber black women in senior management

black women's representation in management grew at a higher rate - but what kind of management, and in what kind of industries? more would need to be revealed here for me to buy this whole thing as a success for black women over black men in corporate america.

That's not true. Michelle Obama's hair isn't relaxed. I'm sure Obama doesn't give her flack about her hair. She just exercises her options. That's the beauty of black hair. The versatility. Her hair is natural. My hair is natural as well. I wear it curly and blow dried straight like Michelle.

If you probably moisturize and condition you can wear a lot of relaxer type styles without relaxing your hair.

hi cb - imo, for professional black women, esp those in management/senior positions, the short fro is seen as the less &quot;ethnic&quot; (and therefore more accepted) than twists, braids and cornrows. of course, the permed hair is the most &quot;accepted&quot;.

there is also citas,theres the place beside Mayfair, Dawn, there is a new place up on 52nd beside brothers cutz, my ex hair dresses leber use to work out of sears an now have her own black salon,...and loads of african places dat specialize in braids and nautral hair. also island beats, a place on 17th and 12th, welsey brother also have place i beleive T, there is a place on 9th and 8th down town, omg...so many places.
