how would you like if i say that ppl in Jamaica are all third would hustlers. U cant trust them!!! They all are cons..they just want to use you for greencard and den bring thier baby mammas and 5 pikney to US! They only want to smoke and sell weed and grow thier dirty dreadlocks. They dont want to be black (is why they call themselves West Idian ) when west Idian is a culture/Heritage not a race!...they hate on themselves so much that although they poor, they spend thier last dollar on bleach cream fi bleach our thier blackness so they can cream like carrot!!

everything i have said is very demeaning to the JA person. i have heard ppl say these things and i have always come to the defence cuz i KNOW PLENTY YARD FOLK AND MOST DO NOT FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY!!

but is what ppl belive! it doesnt make it true!!!--and niether do your comments in regards to African Americans....Lazy!! (so we're all lazy and jealous?)...hmmmmmm

being of african decent and being born in JA ( makes u Jamaican)...of African decent (for the black JA)

goh back goh read weh mi seh bout education. and it's the dyam truth, whether you want to accept it or not. it's just in recent years that jamaicans have accepted their african roots. talk to a black jamaican - dem come tell yu seh dem is 1/4 spanish, 2/3rds dis one inkle inglish, a quattie wut a irish and german and dem black as di rahtid ace of spades. but no where will they acknowledge their african roots. come fi mi. mi back broad. mi have mi lass.

i excuse your ramblings to being new on the board...
if you knew suesumba you would know that she employs sarcasm at times...it is a part of her brand of humor & always funny;
i used sarcasm in the other thread and you & others accused me of 'hating on' african americans;
it would help if you put her statement in quotes so people know what you are responding to...
in that particular post i think she was just being sarcastic;

i rather you say 'some jamaicans'...
because marcus garvey is the father of pan-africanism and he was a jamaican born in the 1800's;
the ultra african rastafarian movement also came out of jamaica in the 1930's;
i was born in a household that taught respect for our african ancestry...and knew many others in jamaica who were the same;
so your statement is hogwash;
jamaicans are not any more ashamed of african ancestry than any other 'blacks' in the world..all blacks in the world were brainwashed to look down on africa/ns- jamaica is not any different

You are missing Sue's point. Just because some households accepted their African roots in JA doesnt mean that was the majority.

my father made it very clear that his acceptance of Garvey et al was not the norm for most.

And I dont even know how that statement can stand given the level of persecution that rastas, Garvey himself, and other African focused groups and ppl suffered in JA until within this generation

the tide is changing against that now but that has not been the case until now - like Sue said more education is changing folks minds about things.

"Long live the Queen" is the rule and not the expection still.

i can appreciate all opinions, even when not in line with my own.

what i will not, can not appreciate is someone who blatantly feeds into the negative sterotypes of my ppl and brand us all as "lazy, childlike and waiting for a handout and sneekers"...i find ur comments to be disrespectfull, disgusting and instulting.

just as another poster suggested u say "some Jamaicans" in your negative references,..it would be nice to have that same acknowlegement..LOL
